I agree that it’s a subtle but important point that no one could (or would) recall what the “big surprise” was for Harvey’s birthday. It was his 70th, and people like this always have a big to-do on those prominent anniversaries- birthdays ending in zero, Golden and Silver wedding anniversaries… I bet other witnesses could be called for Donna’s future trial to show that. You KNOW Donna’s 60th didn’t just pass without a giant hullabaloo. There was no Rolex watch, or Rolls Royce, or cruise to the French Riviera for Harvey, the one who built it all. So, what WAS this big surprise? Wendi couldn’t recall giving her dad anything at all. My dad abandoned my family for my entire high school years and was a real asshole, but for whatever years I did know where he was, I always got him a present and I can still remember what.

So hard to understand. People with very little make divorce work and raise children to be loved and wonderful adults. This was horrific. These boys need to live with the innocent grandparents and get to know the Daddy that was stolen from them. The evilness in this case is sickening.

  • @albertgalan2483

    You’re the only “Mentour Lawyer”!

  • @AndiLee75

How about the moldy money because Donna washed it !!!!???

  • @gloriatasksbirungi242

The irony: Charlie got a murder trial as a birthday gift!!

  • @user-ee8mc6bt4m

I listened to the writing class podcast wherein Wendy Adelson reads her essay concerning part of her life, including how it touches both Dan Markel and her mother. I watched the recreation via the hired actress portraying Wendy. The class itself was idiotic, and if I had been Wendy I would have dropped out and never have revealed any personal information. The actress did a good job on recreating Wendy's story and how she expressed it. I wondered why Dan did not think Wendy was a good person. Before he demeaned her, he should have separated from her. Wendy is a consummate liar. Wendy and Charlie are two individuals who were spoiled and manipulated by their parents. It may have been Charlie's idea to hire a hitman, but Donna egged him on. Wendy knew everything and collaborated. Harvey knew everything as well, but played a more passive role, instead of telling them both to stop all the interference in divorce and child custody legal matters. Harvey is just as culpable. That was interesting to hear the exchange between Sigfredo Garcia and the FBI agent. Transcription is a tedious and difficult task. Good work. The legal commentary is very astute concerning this trial.

  • @MrsK976

On the recordings Charlie states “Wendi is stressed about all this….” (bump and calls around it). This means she knew and didn’t “find out,” the other day. There is enough to arrest. It should be tried if only to get the boys to the Markels now. They are almost adults. Take the risk and arrest her. Donna is toast. And Harvey was discussed on call as being on board with the plan. Get them now. No more waiting Georgia. The boys need 3-4 years before they turn 18 out of the grip of Adelson’s

  • @carlamiller4663

So glad you do these recaps, I was a bit lost in some of the evidence today. Hopefully the jury is picking up all the significant information and able to put it all together.

Damn, Charlie really talks some shit in those calls they played. Cringe!

  • @MrPictor

I am wondering if some answers could be found in the upbringing of D and H. Who raised them and how? If there's nothing there, what went wrong later?

  • @lynda6666

Regardless of any other arrests, Wendi will be single for the rest of her life or until her mothers death. No sane man would want to be involved with this family.

  • @teraallan

NO THREAT OF PHYSICAL HARM was made by the undercover officer nor was it on the paperwork given to Donna. For her to say it was blackmail and insistence on paying shows that she knew exactly that this was hush money and she knew exactly for what!

  • @teraallan

I’m leaning toward Wendi not being part of the plot to murder Dan. Defense did a good job of convincing me that she would NOT have told reported the murder back before Katie called Sigifredo. The timeframe at the liquor store, timeframe of driving up near the house and when Katie called Sigifredo (from call detail records) do not match for Wendi to have informed ahead of Katie’s call.

The recorded call between Charlie and Donna where Donna says that the paperwork given, “no, it doesn’t involve Wendi…it involves you and me.” I don’t think Wendi or Harvey were behind the plan of the hit. Donna absolutely needs to be charged if Charlie is convicted!

  • @potr6461

but i think it was bad in their minds..because wendi would have to admit (finally) that she was lying in the divorce and that, in her mind could lead to her losing (at least)the balance of power in the custody of the kids.

  • @MM-qp4pd

Is there a strategy as to why Charlie seems to have only one lawyer who similarly wears a cheap suit? I remember when i was a juror i was put off by the overconfident snarky lawyer and my empathy was toward the hardworking struggling lawyer (in rashbaums case it seems like two against one, since that other sorry looking lawyer next to him never talks. And hes short while Georgia is tall) I know Wendi Fibbers and co is guilty. But imo i hope the jurors' empathy isnt leaning towards rashbaum. Georgia is an excellent lawyer and always on point but i hope she doesn't come off as snarky to any juror. And i hope they show more photos of Dan, and emphasize how his children have no father and how his life was taken away all because of rashbaums client.

  • @tedlouie

26:53 this was the most insufferable part of yesterday’s trial, can’t do it again. Let’s skiiiip and hop! 😊

  • @informnz9283

    “Bumped into your mum”?
    Katie said “bumped”…

  • @carolynyanik2197

Mentor Lawyer, Why did Georgia not ask Katy if she stated " I know" when Sigfredo called to confirm murder done? And if Katy confirmed the statement, ask, how did you know?

  • @janedeaux5900

The prior threat could be the guy on stand who sent text threatening to report him to FBI for murder of Markel. Heres hoping Georgia proves that

  • @imallrightme7336

    100k . Well done ML. 👏

  • @Angela-xo5kh

I watched the trial and I feel the same as you, ML. "Birthday gift" really resonated with me as it was a "surprise." Harvey's birthday is in July when Dan was killed. Donna tells Charlie to delete the message after reading. These goofs think deleting messages on their phones makes them irretrievable by law enforcement. Their big egos made them think they could outsmart LE. Love Sarah Kathryn Dugan's laser beam focus on details–of course she's going to pursue May 7th events. Not random.

  • @janetshemaryahu5529

Mentour Lawyer, your legal eye and your analysis is outstanding. You are far too humble imo.

  • @MimiShelly73

    Another amazing analysis!

  • @Trish.Norman

You know the sickest thing about this is that the children are being raised by the people who killed their father. There needs to be some sort of legislation that children of the accused are not in the full custody of the perpetrators. Someone in a live chat stated that one of the sons was talking to Uncle Charlie on a jail call……Just NO!!!!
There is currently a case out of California, (Larry Millete/Maya Millete), where he killed his wife but yet he and his parents have custody of their 2 kids. Larry Millete and parents had denied the kids access to Maya’s family.
(Maya Millete went missing Jan. 2021. Larry Millete was arrested in Oct. 2021. His trial is set for Aug. 2024. Their children have been in the custody of Larry’s parents since his arrest.)

  • @seagate1686

Hi ML! Congratulations on 100k subs!🎉 Just watched the replay. I was shocked when we found out that Donna and Harvey were down at Charlie's house that night!! Wow 😲 Thanks for what you do! ❤

  • @avasolag6288

Does the person that made the comment about Mentour Lawyer snoring in court realize how many hours all these podcasters covering the Charlie Adelson put in a day? First of alll, Mentour Lawyer is a real lawyer and has his own clients that he represents. Second of all, the legal podcasters are watching or are in the courtroom hearing the testimony, then the legal podcasters put together a recap of the highlights of that day’s testimony. They have to arrive early at the courthouse to secure a seat in the courtroom. Appreciate and be grateful for all Mentour Lawyers hardwork as well as all the other podcasters keeping us informed.

  • @noreengardner1075

Hmmm these insane and abusive conversations behind Wendi’s back about her, disparaging her and attempts to double team her decisions are the core dynamics between this pair. Like Donna says to Charlie after the “bump”, this is “between us” – those two alone (along with the murder team) did this.

  • @Nurturing2

18:30 Yes, she did show the Motion to Withdraw!!! BINGO!!! Huge day indeed❣️ Thank you for your AWESOME content!!! 44:14 LOVE watching your enthusiasm for outstanding lawyering!!! GRATEFUL for Georgia & Sarah!!! ⚖️

  • @bradwatson7324

If Charlie is so quick about going to the police with the new problem (the bump), why did he never go to the police with the (alleged) extortion problem? If you're being threatened you go to the police; that was his immediate thought/suggestion and his words.

Additionally, there's no reason for Donna to be speaking so cryptically to Charlie unless there was fear that the police might be listening in. Sigfredo and Katie wouldn't be listening in, nor would the Latin Kings.

  • @birdmp7573

Rash is going to say, "If the puzzle piece doesn't fit, you must acquit!" The State has all the missing pieces and will finish it!

  • @Cocoandindy

Thanks ML & congrats on 100k

  • @JANN-JAPAN

Have they been audited yet? With Charlie’s intense interest in whether the bump was the IRS, makes one know that they have problems in that arena.

  • @sparkles0420

Yes! They delivered Donna from the complete humiliation of having her rights as a Grandmother taken away. That was Harvey's present, his wife didn't have to go thru that. But Dan's parents did. Justice is going to be sweet. RIP Daniel 💜

  • @pitolove3846

Charlie love's to hear himself talk. Not gonna fair well in Prison.

  • @pitolove3846

ML, I would Love to hear your perspective or opinion on how you believe that Raushbum will try to present his "Puzzle" & prove that Dan was killed to open the door for the Charlie extortion & how Charlie is Innocent of all this

  • @debifox5780

    Good Job James 🔥

  • @Hazy-Jane

Hi ML, this trial shows just how evil can be cloaked under the facade of a successful family. Charlie's reaction when KM slipped in that Charlie offered KM's brother to pay for her legal defense. He was mortified! Murder as a gift, sick, sick people 😢Thanks for your excellent coverage 😊

  • @maureencaissy6075

Thank you Mentour Lawyer. You really clarify the main issues and important points. Much appreciated. 👍
