As a highly detailed crime investigator, it is evident that Katie was the victim of a brutal attack in her dorm room. The sequence of events leading up to the crime are crucial to understanding the motive and the culprits involved.
It is worth noting that fraternity parties, such as the one at the Pike house, often have new members who are designated drivers to ensure the safety of the attendees. In this case, Dena arranged for a pledge named Steven Souls to take Katie back to her dorm after the party.
However, upon dropping Katie off, Steven requested to be let out at a nearby corner, claiming that he needed to walk in the direction of Katie’s dorm. It was later discovered that Steven was not a college student and did not reside anywhere near the street corner where he was dropped off.
This discrepancy in Steven’s story raises red flags about his involvement in Katie’s attack. Despite his attempt to distance himself from the crime scene, investigators were able to link him to the incident. Steven was subsequently sentenced to life in prison on May 12th, 2005.
In light of these developments, it is imperative to consider the possibility of accomplices or other individuals involved in planning or executing the crime. The question remains: did Steven act alone, or was there someone else pulling the strings behind the scenes? The investigation into Katie’s brutal attack continues, with the hope of uncovering the full truth behind this heinous crime.

I saw her case on tv there were lots of twists and turns she was a journalist and found out shady stuff and was writing a story about few things she found out it was sad and she died horrible it’s sad that someone does that to another person but her family finally got some justice 😢

I'm trying to figure out how he knew what room she was in. Dormitories and Sorority houses don't exactly put names on the doors, or do they these days?
It's hard to say if he did the crime or if he did, did he do it with someone else? I don't know anything about what happened to her, but I would have thought that she would have screamed or made a lot of noise.
This is rather creepy and it shows that there was intent. He probably had a partner and had been stalking her for awhile. Considering the violence done, it's more feasible that there were two bad guys. Perhaps one was already in her room when she got home. To me, this was a premeditated crime cuz he had to have known in advance what room she was in.
I'd have to know what evidence that the prosecutor had on this guy to lend a guilty or not guilty. When I was younger, I attended parties and not everyone there were college students, so this really isn't a suspicious thing at all. What is suspicious is that he wasn't dropped off at his home, but at a corner not far from the victim. According to this feed, he didn't live anywhere near where he was dropped off. So, this doesn't make any sense to be dropped off where he was dropped off. He doesn't strike me as the type to have planned this out himself, so I suspect that he might have had a partner in the crime. One reason for thinking this is he would have needed a means of transportation to get home. If he had used Uber or a taxi, he would have left a trail. Another reason would be the noise factor with the violence done. The feed doesn't go into what other crimes he may have committed, but suspect he probably has been incarcerated before.
I shudder at how this was planned out and it is very creepy!

Death penalty
@erikaenander5374
In response to a number of questions, allow me to say that as a retired professor this doesn’t surprise me. In that environment, no one is thinking about safety in terms of who is there. It”s well-if-he’s-here-he-must-belong-here. He could have just walked in. At least that’s my experience of things. And dorms are only as safe as the entrance policy and practice. Buzz the buzzer. Someone inside lets you in because they are a nice person. And it’s over.
@octaviadennison8895
I think it's stupid to have a female driving a drunk guy any where. where were the men?
@LMusk
"Often times"…. obviously you never attended university nor were you a Greek member. Be real.
@LMusk
Not true. New members get drunk the most an the Pikes wouldn't have let other people in their event.
@user-rz3yi4yj4m
How did a non college person get into a college party?
@midoscent
The fact that it's common for a man to murk you while forcing you to have sex is madness.
@Doadab13
I think it was a racist act.
@theroaminggnomad
No. No young girl should be in the car with a male she doesn't know. Weren't her "Sisters" looking after her best interest??? Apparently not.
@deborah9384
A lot of questions, for a very short period. I think there were 2 people. This man had her info for a while. It was 2 men. The one in the clip is ready to kill her. Has to have person working with him for alibi. 2nd person got info they needed w/o causing alarm. How did all these people see him and not have any warning signs?? The people who saw her on a regular basis.
@patriciacobos7828
😮😢 terrible setup, she was an innocent victim. RIP Katie ❤ 🙏
He should have gotten "Death Penalty" 😈
@susanpugh5265
It's horrible as to what happened to her! Praying for her parents!
@amymoon6407
No i think this sickos friend was involved
@sherlytle1057
Stop being so damn trusting of strangers, pple. Not her fault at all & I pray he rots in prison where he belongs
@ngamcdonald1457
Why did he head over to her dorm?
@donnachase632
There was more than him.
@jerzecandy
Sounds like a set-up. How’d he know what her suite number was, if they just dropped her off? How’d he got into or know how to get in her building? He didn’t go to the college, wouldn’t he need inside info on her and if her roommate would have come home?
@darrenheadrick3669
I have some questions.
1) How did these girls meet him and where?
2) Why was he aloud in their vehicle?
3) Why was She dropped of first and then the guy second, was the designated driver part of the same sorority? If she was going back to the sorority house Why make 2 trips, one to drop her off and then take him a few blocks away and then go back to the sorority house.
4) How did he gain entry into their house.
@yvonne9484
Ladies when you are drunk you are not in control therefore there is NO expectation of safety…. #soberFun
@christynorman7288
Beginning her life and an evil cretin took her life. He looked like trouble. Are the college dorms not protected? She would have had to have opened the door. ?
Peace out ☮️
