Hello true crime enthusiasts, welcome back to another episode of Seriously with me, Annie. Today, we are diving into a complex case that involves a deep analysis and investigation. As a highly detailed crime investigator, I am here to spin the text and provide you with all the facts related to this case.

Let’s jump right in to today’s case. Many people experience difficult relationships, especially in their 20s. It is common to know at least one couple with an on-again, off-again dynamic, or to have experienced a relationship loop at some point yourself. However, every so often, we hear about a relationship that goes far beyond what anyone expected. This is the case we will be discussing today.

In 2012, 29-year-old Ryan Poston was tragically shot and killed by his girlfriend, Shayna Hubers. The details of their tumultuous relationship, full of obsessive behavior and disturbing text messages, were uncovered during the investigation. Shayna’s actions leading up to the murder, including Google searches on how to unlock a door with a bobby pin and haunting messages about shooting and killing Ryan, painted a troubling picture of the events that unfolded.

Ryan, a dedicated and ambitious lawyer, had tried multiple times to end the relationship with Shayna, but she refused to let go. Despite her claims of self-defense, the evidence pointed to a premeditated act of violence. The jury found Shayna guilty of murder, and she was sentenced to 40 years in prison.

During her second trial, Shayna’s defense team attempted to downplay the severity of her actions, citing mental health issues and intimacy problems with Ryan. However, the prosecution presented a strong case, highlighting Shayna’s calculated behavior and lack of remorse. Witnesses testified to her obsessive and vengeful nature, painting a chilling picture of the events leading up to Ryan’s death.

Despite Shayna’s attempts to manipulate the narrative, the jury once again found her guilty of murder, sentencing her to life in prison. The tragic loss of Ryan, a promising young man with a bright future ahead, serves as a reminder of the devastating consequences of toxic relationships.

As we delve into this case, it is essential to acknowledge the pain and suffering endured by Ryan’s family and loved ones. The senseless act of violence that took Ryan’s life has irreversibly changed the course of their lives. May justice be served, and may Ryan’s memory be honored as we uncover the truth behind this heartbreaking tragedy.

Thank you for joining me on this deep dive into the case of Ryan Poston and Shayna Hubers. Stay tuned for more intriguing true crime stories and updates on ongoing cases here on Seriously. Don’t forget to like and subscribe for more riveting content. Until next time, stay safe and stay informed.

I got into an issue about getting a restraining order for similar laws in NC

  • @larapiazza5632

A male criminal proclaimed to be a woman to get to a women's prison where he married an actual woman, meaning he’s actually a man and we must respect him??? You’ve lost me there, Annie

  • @kimslygh4758

She was a narcissist & a woman scorned. She murdered him.

  • @MalonsMilk

I think in the majority of cases where you know what you did was completely bat shit insane and wrong you should just admit guilt and say there really was no mitigating factors. People are more inclined to have some level of thanks when you don’t put the family through a court case and accept responsibility.

  • @animallover6645

Yeah But Jodi Arias ex boyfriend was basically leading her on, this guy tried to end it and she didn't want to. Bit more sympathy to her than this lady. Also if I was the dispatcher I would have been lady put your hands up, what a B.

  • @misskathleen490

Another entitled spoiled brat who thinks that she deserves everything.

  • @nicolefontecchio1779

She lost her noodle for sure.

  • @kevinhrankowski734

It's just so telling how the first thing she says is, "I killed my boyfriend in self-defense!"

The whole 911 call is her setting up her criminal defense. "He's bigger than me! I was scared! He threw me against the couch!"

It's not self-defense if you shoot someone more than once. I love how the dispatcher even says "so you shot him instead of calling 911?"

  • @sierra8017

For Sharon to say that her daughter had to defend herself is a complete lie. Ryan could have done more harm to Shayna when they were together but he didn't even know how to gemtly break up with her many times. For a man bigger than her , he could've easily beaten her up but he didn't. She clearly planned the whole thing. She was probably there waiting for him to come home with a gun on her hand. I'm glad she is in jail for life. She is definitely mentally ill. If something happened to her when she was young. That is really sad but it doesn't excuse that she killed someone.

  • @RacoonHand

The dispatcher was very good. She knew

  • @SweetiePieVibes

It is despicable that men are allowed to be housed with women. I was in prison in 2019 and we had this conversation. Not one woman was
    Comfortable with the idea.

  • @maggierodriguez4060

OMG the 911 dispatcher. I can’t decide whether she’s just incredibly calm under pressure or she’s just heard so much crazy sh*t that this call doesn’t even faze her at all. Her responses to this insanity give me the sense that like this is just a regular Tuesday for her 😅😳😩

“I killed my boyfriend in self-defense.”
“Mmmkay, where are you at?” 😅

  • @jennifergallegly7042

I have just discovered your channel and have been listening to you ever since. But anywho…Oh my goodness, did I hear you say this crazy lady tried to apply for a marriage license in prison to marry a transgender fellow inmate? I mean what in the world people?!?!?

  • @cheekarp2180

She is clearly an autistic woman (high functioning), you can tell by the way she talks very matter of factually. Mix that with drugs and/or alcohol and you end up with bad news. Autistic people should not be allowed mind altering substances.

  • @samavey15

OMFG Annie! These "ADS" ARE INSANE. I PAY FOR PREMIUM AND YOURS STILL PLAY. I HAVE FOLLOWED YOU FOR A WHILE.. BUT THESE ARE RIDICULOUS

  • @susannaguillory6590

    Fatal attraction definitely!!

  • @jamison1280

Shayna definitely shows signs of BPD but, in her defense, Why was this almost 30 year old man trolling for 19 year olds on the internet? It's no excuse for what Shayna did, obviously, but he found a very young and vulnerable girl and toyed with her. Again, definitely not an excuse to kill him but there are a lot of red flags that he was abusive, manipulative, and narcissistic. I hope this serves as a cautionary tale to men who try to find young girls to prey upon.

  • @rosey82833

Absolutely positively evil and sick! Self-defense?! No way

  • @mosimosi630

This woman is a monster the way she’s lying on this man is disgusting

  • @bayliedwards6806

    Are you've kidding me?
I'm pretty sure you and I are on the same, exact, page👍🤞🏻

  • @bayliedwards6806

That crazy B should never get out.

  • @JessicaCoffman-le1gd

Can we just talk about the idea of a restraining order. Its like having these gun laws… its just a piece of paper. People are going to do what they want. I honestly feel its pointless to get a restraining order, its only good to show in court after you've been killed. Ok maybe im jaded but its stupid.

  • @Attaway_Gurl

So fucking heartbreaking! You did a beautiful job covering it and shedding light on that piece of narcissistic and psychopathic trash while still portraying the victim as his authentic self. I binge watch you all the time, but I'm a first-time commenter. I think you are such a classy, chic, thorough investigator who checks out both sides without prejudice before assimilating the facts. I also think you're an amazing and brave woman being able to open up about your journey with post-partum depression. You have gained a fan and follower for life. Thank you for what you do. You inspire me to do more advocating in my life and to just be a better human.

  • @shelbyeverett3096

When I hear her describe what happened to the 911 dispatcher, I always think would someone who had just supposedly beaten so badly they were scared for their life be worried about going back inside to get their stuff in that moment? I also believe that the fact that she got closer with each shot, and chose to shoot him multiple more times instead of call 911 earlier shows that this was not self defense.

  • @everettpace4687

Isn’t there 2nd degree murder I am confused

  • @floridagurl40

She was a controlling, obsessed psycho! I watched this on ID and she said he wanted a nose job so she gave him one 😮. I think she knew he had the date with the girl and she was everything Shaina wasn’t and she wasn’t gonna allow that to happen. The way she danced around and said “ I did it “ was scary. I know here in Florida there is 1 area that’s stalking on the protection order. I guess bc they were in a relationship that wouldn’t apply but the fact she would just show up at his place should be stalking 🤷🏻‍♀️ This case did give Jodi Arias vibes
