Thames Valley police are finally able to identify a suspect in the long and complex case of Leah Croucher’s disappearance and murder. The suspect, Neil Maxwell, was a registered offender with a history of sexual assaults against women and girls. Despite multiple attempts to arrest him, Maxwell evaded the police and eventually took his own life two months after Leah’s disappearance. The police found evidence linking Maxwell to the property where Leah’s remains were discovered, turning the investigation into a homicide case. The owner of the property, who rarely visited, was not in the country at the time of Leah’s disappearance, raising suspicions about Maxwell’s access to the property. The case highlights the challenges and frustrations of missing person investigations and the devastating impact on the victim’s family. Despite the tragic outcome, the family expresses gratitude for the police’s efforts and asks for privacy during this difficult time. As the investigation continues, there are still many unanswered questions surrounding Leah’s disappearance and murder, emphasizing the importance of learning from such cases to prevent similar tragedies in the future. The case serves as a reminder of the vulnerabilities and dangers faced by individuals, even in familiar surroundings, and the importance of vigilance and community support in ensuring safety and justice for all.
@annieelise
This case breaks my heart. Such a horrible double tragedy that didn’t need to happen.

It was my ex partner/best friend who found the guy who aducted leah he hung himself in Campbell Park. I feel for leah family so much
@darkwoods1954
This is typical of UK police. They're only concerned about PR so love going on about how great they are while doing very little and having accomplished nothing. Then plee for someone to tell them what happened.
@Booker596
22:03 saddo doesnt necessarily have anything to do with mood, it could be sad sap ie some whos soppy or crys at puppies and flowers with a smile on their face, or someone who's weird, a nerd, a geek etc. sad also means someone who's pathetic so saddo can be used as an extension of that.
@mummyevans2
Leah was my niece's friend and it is all very local to me.
Thank you for sharing her story. There are a few errors but the overall story is there.
What was always wrong with the investigation is that it was never upgraded from missing until she was found.
She had no history of going missing, there was no proof of life so they should have upgraded it to a suspected abduction or murder enquiry right near the beginning!
Her phone went off in the vicinity of the lake and the house she was found in was around the lake, facing it, only separated by the small road, paths and grass.
The neighbours knew that no-one was living there and the owners were abroad so i understand the police not pushing to speak to someone at the address though.
There are a lot of holiday homes around Furzton lake. They sit empty most of the year.

@MariaJones-hd4es
I am from the UK & I remember this case so well, i used to know her dad & jade & hayden's mum (aswel as Jade & Haydon) & unfortunatly her body was found in a house just off my street in North Furzton. This case was so so sad. The person who is held responsible for Leahs death should never have been free, he was on the run from the police & have evaded them for months! The whole of Milton Keynes was covered in missing posters, banners etc. The owners of the house was not in the country at the time of Leahs disappearance & have never returned to this house. They had hired Maxwell to do handy work in the house, he was the ONLY one with the keys for this house, but if he couldnt do the jobs he used to hire someone to do these jobs.
Leah's family are still to this day are still waiting for the inqeust into Leahs death, which is due to place june 2024.
May you both Leah & Haydon continue to RIP ❤
@Esmebudgetz
I’m in the UK and no a “Saddo” is like calling someone a geek. It’s a fun term lol 😂
@michhaynes7272
That hospital is responsible for even more heartache for this poor family, I don't cry often but the pain in this family , seeing it as they speak, brakes my heart every time I hear this case.

@kimberlym1183
But… If all they did was the bare minimum then you would ask why they didn't use more resources 😅 I think they did great jumping on the case the way they did, we hear too many cases where police won't do anything at all. But unfortunately mistakes were made
@bethanybubblecrazy
This is a local case to me and it's heartbreaking that they found her body in an attic/loft and the person who is suspected to have done this took their own life not long after Leah went missing. I remember all the banners and posters everywhere. RIP Leah and Hayden
@cicchiamichael

@kmr1157
Quite rude comments about UK policing. Its very different to the US. Maybe do some research before you criticise
@aiveon7415
Why tell us he is muslim ?
@tabithabragdon1210
My only question is why did the person wait so long to say something?
@Charlotte-wx4jz
I live 200 miles from Milton Keynes but I’m still surprised I have never heard of Leah’s devastating case before. When you said they had been to the house but never gone back, doesn’t surprise me. Absolutely heartbreaking about her brother! I’ve grown up in and out of hospital (not mental health related) and while the NHS is amazing it is severely underfunded sadly (doesn’t help that they mismanaged the funds they do have but that’s another story).
@Saints_ravenfortheRainbow
The person, once they're out of things, thinks over on it too. It's trauma so it's normal to think they think about it.
Ptsd is reliving the moment..
I still try not to think about why i stayed in a abusive relationship that progressed to a short lived marriage and then ended with a forced abortion.
@suzannegraham344
This one is so absolutely tragic I am just balling those poor people omg this is hitting me so hard 😢
@user-wm6ff9pp9r
