One year has rolled by since the tragic incident when Officer Aréanah Preston of the Chicago Police Department was gunned down during an attempted robbery close to her residence in the Avalon Park district. Recalling his brother, he attested to his unwavering integrity and compassionate nature, a shared characteristic of many men and women in blue.

Those accused in Officer Preston’s killing are Jakwon Buchanan, Joseph Brooks, Trevell Breeland, and Jaylen Frazier. All four face numerous grave charges, including first-degree murder, armed robbery, possession of a stolen vehicle, and burglary. Among the accused, Frazier, despite his young age, is charged as an adult—a testament to the severity of his alleged crimes.
