I want to thank you so much for explaining the court process so well. I have been watching you for about a year and have learned so much and am able to understand the legal process so much better.

  • @ChiomahMomah

The story really makes me sad. They are clearly an opportunistic couple who took advantage of a young and gifted man. He has a right to be really upset… they fed him a lie! They made him look dumb and they used him for fame. Mr Oher pls forgive them, you have a beautiful family and you are a star ! As for the Tuohys you need to just apologize and settle this case because saying you never intended to adopt him adds insult to injury.

  • @thepamela050

Well the family has now provent they gave Michael his share of the money and proved Michael has been trying to shake them down for 15 Million.

  • @hellville5686

Indirectly sent here by Patreons of Dave Neal, and definitely am now a fan! I also don't speak sportsball, but do speak/understand legalese 😅 I also highly recommend looking into the MULTIPLE suits going on regarding the Clayton Echard paternity scandal and the 2 content creators Dave Neal and Liz Neptune being sued for talking about it. Would love to get your take!

  • @karentucker2161

This is hard for me because you want to believe the best in all people. I remeber watching the movie and loved it. This is so sad.. i haven't heard too much information on this. I didn't think he was adopted but just had a guardianship which is different and knew someone who was under the samething with their grandma.

  • @echoe85

OMG! I came across this vid as i was looking to see if you covered the Maya Kowalski trial and so glad i did! I was one of those people that LOVED the movie and what it represented UNTIL NOW knowing it was a flat out LIE!!! The nerve and GREED of the Tuohy's makes my blood boil and i had never even heard of Michael Oher until the movie as im from Australia and NFL isnt/wasnt commonly broadcast here. Thank you Emily for sharing this video. TEAM OHER 💪

  • @weatheredinsomniac

This is infuriating. But also, the saddest part is that Michael really believed for all these years that he had a real family. I can't even imagine what it would feel like to learn that not only did they take advantage of you for their own selfish needs, but never even adopted you. This breaks my heart 💔😭

  • @WhyseWytch

It's wildly messed up that Oher was surrounded by sharks, looking to feed off his ignorance and his talent. I can understand why he's lashing out, now. His "family" took his story, changed it to build "their good name" and now they're sinking their heels into the ground. If they actually cared about that man, no matter their intentions from the start, they would let this contract go.

  • @hazelangus

Rose McGowan can tell an awful lot about CAA agents. "Part of the pimp problem", that's what she called them.

If there were people who delivered young actresses to Harvey Weinstein, and people who saw how aggressive James Spears could be to people performing with Britney, intimidating them into signing things, I have no trouble at all believing that CAA agents might not have asked many questions. Or wouldn't even care to.

Why would they ask anything about a legal thing that was set up all officially and signed by a judge, 3 or 4 years prior, if they even knew about it? Can't assume they're going to be dotting all is and crossing all ts, just because they're CAA.

I also want to know how Michael is signing ANYTHING in 2007 though. He couldn't sign anything whatsoever, or if he did it wouldn't be legally enforcable. Right? He was not a citizen, and he had no right to take up for himself, like Britney.

  • @hazelangus

*SCREEEEEEEEEEAAAAAMING* WHAT? WHAT? So, our sweet southern Auntie Debby gets the conservatorship in place. Presumably as an attorney she knows a couple of pet judges in Shelby County (pure speculation, not accusation)., and then turns round and receives contract and payment notices….

You're right, Michael, that IS interesting. I think that on this channel, we know another one like Aunt Debs.

This sort of thing should have a system that flags up crap like this.

  • @kristindewey2400

As a mom of an adult we eventually (when he officially asks us to) will adopt…this is infuriating. They didn’t even need to adopt to help with applying for college, healthcare, etc. I have helped my son with all of those things even though technically I am legally and biologically not related to him. 🤦🏻‍♀️😤

  • @MayaGTK

The idea that the Tuoys would try to defend/deflect by saying they had plenty of $ +didn't take from Ohr…even if that were true: as Ohr’s conservators, they should have gotten him much better deals for movie etc. Saying THEY don't need the $ bc they're rich while also not sharing the family wealth by adopting…there’s so much conflict of interest & NOT looking out for Ohr (their “ward”). No matter which way they spin it, seems like there’s Tuoy wrongdoing all over the place.

  • @KayCeeTX21

This wasn’t an abusive conservatorship. It’s an aging football player who is trying to make money his new book. There is proof that Michael Oher knew about and understood what a conservatorship is. The Touhy’s took him in. They took care of him. They loved him, supported him and nurtured him in every way. It’s ridiculous to think that an already successful and wealthy family would keep the money earned from the film from him. He has a trust like their other two kids. This is not abuse from the Touhys. It’s a shake down from Michael Oher.

  • @patandemy

I have read about some issues and I was angry then lol So I’ll watch and listen then respond

  • @ReggieBishop

Oher is asking for $15 million. Sounds like a lawsuit

  • @ReggieBishop

Why don't you read the Tuohys filing?

  • @ReggieBishop

Michael Oher NFL earnings should have been managed by the Tuohys but they didn't. Wasn't that their duty as conservators? The original petition/order stated that Oher could have terminated it at 25! You mean to tell me Oher signed a NFL contract without guidance, wrote two books, formed his own foundation and he NEVER READ the conservatorship petition? The original conservatorship doesn't have an order for accounting! The production company, Michael Lewis, the author and Tuohys have said exactly what they earned from The Blindside. Where's Michael's proof that they made millions??! Sandra Bullock made 5 million and an OSCAR! Oher isn't going after Sandra Bullock and Quinton Aaron! Oher sounds like he's lying here

  • @pattywatson2350

But, isn't Michael earned his oen money as football player? Where is the money? The Book is not only about him but, the whole family. It's not morale right for Michael wouldn't have nothing if, it was for this family.

  • @WrestlingMoM-gr6it

The blindside is t just a story about him thought. But his books again doesn’t make much sense given statements now. 200k is a little money when they’re worth what they’re are. I’ll say y’all should probably look objectively at both sides statements weigh them before jumping to conclusions on judgements.

  • @WrestlingMoM-gr6it

His book contradicts a lot of his statements in the complaints there

  • @anitakyota9922

Everyone involved in this contract should be liable. Michael was basically sold to the Tuohys as a slave to make them money! Money that they didn’t need but Michael did and does!

  • @LL-cc4ro

The U.S. government has lost track of 85K unaccompanied minors in the last 2 years who crossed the open boarder. No surprise there.

  • @zehavaluv

This conservatorship looks like legal slavery. Do they have any connection to the judge that assisted in granting conservatorship? It’s just twisted. Doesn’t seem ethical which prob means it isn’t.

  • @colleenssjogrenschannel2464

Sounds like he deserves the money, those people are disgusting. "Helping a child", no helping themselves.

  • @happyfriar

Calling it now that there's going to be closet racism coming out when everything is revealed.

  • @sunflower9611

Thank you for covering this. I am interested in any updates.

  • @Rockneda

When the movie came out, I was not surprised. I'm surprised it took this long.

  • @acoleman6621

If the conservators do an accounting now, I guarantee you it will be way under reported. They've already lied and stole from this young man multiple times. One more time is not going to do anything to their conscience

  • @marinagallant1847

The moral of the story is to absolutely stop helping children like Michael because obviously no matter what people do to help drug families, they are ungrateful and untrustworthy. Sad…white folks have to stop helping non-whites because it's dangerous for the families who help.

  • @hharrison91

Sad how folks bought the lies he told

  • @marciabeasley8506

This is a MONEY GRAB and a sad attempt at getting attention around his SECOND BOOK! Just shows you that No good deed goes unpunished!😊

  • @obedirect5491

😅luv the opening pun bc I too was blindsided. Definitely didn’t see this coming.@31:40 The judge &Tuohys socialz in the same circles, so the judge was
    lax & thus derelict.

  • @misslady582

Anyone else seeing reports that The Tuohy's are now claiming that they never intended to adopt Michael and that they only used the words adopted and son as symbolic and not in a legal sense??!!! So did thy lie to Michael or to the regulations concerned about him playing for Old Miss?

  • @JenniferGraves-tx7ky

Book author Michael Lewis also wrote Moneyball and The Big Short. Is he really a close friend of the Tuohys?
