A few things. 1. This is a new intro, but the coffee and crime intro isn't going anywhere. 2. I keep saying Jennifer's birthday was August 28th 1974, but it was 1973. My. brothers birthday is 8/28/74 so it was just a mental thing. 3. While I'm going over the floor plan, I give the room number of the woman who heard a door thud in the middle of the night as 2816, but her room number was 2818, it was the mystery guest in 2816, which was the room next to hers. Enjoy the video!

I have no idea what happened in this case, but I do know that the digestion of the food is irrelevant. I have gastroparesis and it would take me at least three days to digest that food. So you can't go by that
@superman31172
This case seems as mysterious bad the Isdal Woman case in Norway

Some valid points. But the communism and capitalism clash taking Berlin as a scenario is not very accurate developed by the end. The way it is described how the Western Berlin against Eastern Berlin situation happened is way biased. Western forces did not want to help Germany and put money on them so they could be happier and prosperous. It was just another way to control narrative and economics through ideologic doctrine.

I love your glasses. You look very stylish, smart, & attractive

Is it just me finding it odd that someone took away all personal items of HER but left HIS eau de cologne behind? And the Ungaro (meaning Hungarian) and the link to Felsőszentmárton… just seems like it was a kind of message… ps. Your pronountiation was absolutely recognizable 😉

I love how your brain works💥💥Thanks for the “Cliff Notes” history lesson….

I’m super late to this party, has anyone ever considered maybe it was the end of her career as a spy or intelligence, for whatever reason. And someone from her agency own killed her. That might explain her position just laying in the bed like the was looking at her shooter, and being dressed in all black, like she knew she would not get a funeral and this was the end of her. And living her last days out doing what she wanted. Just an idea. I really loved this one!
@heidiscorner
And the infamous Molotov cocktail was named after the same Mr. Molotov as in the Molotov-Ribbentrop agreement. The Molotov cocktail was invented and named by Finnish soldiers fighting against the Soviets during WW2.
@aliciabreaux5310
Her age- 24 is the only thing that makes me doubt she was a spy. Thats quite young, right?

I don't think Jennifer was a spy. Spy supposed to be average looking and had a stuff for their cover story (like fake id, credit card and whatever). People noticed Jennifer because of her sophisticated clothes and shoes, strange behaviour – not good for secret service at all, in my opinion. But… May be she was criminal? Like Black Mamba?
I don't think USSR didn't put money in East Germany just because of communism or Stalin's ideas, but because it simply didn't have them after war. 24 millions people killed, many injured, some parts of country completely destroyed, poverty, starvation and lack of resources for many years. So sad…

Ive always thought your eyebrows are perfect

Thank you Stephanie! I am German, I have always been a fan, but now I’m a super fan! What a good and short explanation of the German situation!!!! Well done!!! Thanks from a Berliner!!!
@andreamorris9984
Did they try to find out what credit card was used for pay per view? Or does that just get added to room bill?
@89opcja
Lyle Stevik?

The more I think about this case the more theories I have 😂
Two main theories why she was so secreteve are:
1) she met a married lover there in hotel and shot herself after he didn't show up or dumped her. It would explain fake information
2) She was a criminal and supposed meet her accomplice in that hotel. It would explain a gun, fake info and why nobody recognized her as she would likely change her appearance on purpose
@amagicbean7492
The police (or government I should say) know exactly who she is, they just can’t or won’t release any info because of her “dealings” (imo). I think she was due for termination because she had compromised something, but she wanted to go out on her own terms and do it in a place where she would be found in order to create problems for whatever agency she was associated with. Because if she was going to be terminated by said “agency”, it would have been done quietly and without anybody knowing.

If I bring coffee and muffins. Can we chill and chat about history? That was way too much fun.

Great episode. Thanks for being awesome!

I realized I still didn’t know how much 50 kronin was, even though I first watched this 2 years ago. And although the exchange rate does vary based on the economy, I doubt it’s that much of a difference for that amount. So: 50 kronin converts to $4.83 USD. But since this was almost 30 years ago, I had to factor in inflation. $4.83 in 1995 equates to $9.73 USD today in 2024. So basically $10.
And, tbh, $10 bucks/50 kronin is a pretty shitty tip for room service in a 5-star hotel lol. But then I remembered that the rest of the world is way ahead of us when it comes to paying living wages to waitstaff so maybe it wasn’t.
@LaurannGresham-ts2fc
What is she gave an address near her childhood home and called her childhood phone number? As little signs to help discover her identify if she has been a spy for some time?
@KaarinaKimdaly
They are called tap pants, Steph.
@xmissx
I know it's been 2 years and I live in the UK but I'd be more than happy to babysit your kids so you can have a spa day (forget the eyebrow wax…go for the whole package lol)

There's is no way a hotel of such caliber did not get ID as well as a card at check in unless the individual was wealthy and well known to the hotel with a tab at the hotel that would cover the expenses such as movies and damages as well as theft. If she was ingelligence it's very likely they had a deal with the hotel for that room, and no ID or credit card would be needed on her part. Its possible she was an escort for a well off client who uad a stabding reservation for that room. She calls and reserves under the false identity the client gives her to use. The reservation is made without any questions. She arrives abd fills out the information with ger false name and doesn't put her passport info because it's in her real name. The client asks her to change her reaervation multiple times to accommodate their needs. She atrends an event with the individual the client has set her up with abd is paid in cash for rhe event which explains her having tipped well. At some point she has done something stupid rather threatened to expose whomever she escorted or the client who has hired her. After they have solved their problem they remove all traces of who she was and keave the scene staged for police. The hotel management being smart enough knew better than to get involved and simply gave expecred stock answers.
