This is the best telling of this story! Thank you ❤

  • @colorsflight6432

Why the hell did he have to drag this family around and kill the children? I don't get the purpose of this.

  • @aurapheliona

This was really illuminating. I had no idea that H. H. Holmes wasn't some sort of sadistic maniac who lured guests into his hotel and then sold their skeletons. Thanks for getting the truth out there in this informative video series.

  • @nikkiweaver8972

6 months, they handed out his death sentence in 6 months!? That's amazing. That's exactly how it should still be today.

  • @vivienleighful

I actually worked for Pinkerton a few years back. Before the security guard shot someone and got in trouble here in Denver. One of the only undercover female for my area. Very interesting to hear someone talk about the firm in a good manner

  • @ryu246

Poor kids. Made tear up, I didn't know that he killed children, because I was obsessed with this H. H Holmes, it was both terrifying and fascinating to me how many people he was able to manipulate and lie to. thank you for your deep dives, you're my favourite true crime YouTuber now!

  • @EncoreMama

I find it strange that you downplay how horrible he was. No, he did not have a soul. He murdered at least four children. That is a serial child murderer. He had to have gotten some pleasure out of it, because if he’s not a psychopath as you say, he’s not a psychopath, he would not have been able to murder children and cut them in pieces. I do get that you are trying to point out that he is not the bogeyman that most stories about him insist he is. But he was a horrible person, and most likely was if not a psychopath and a sociopath. Normal people cannot murder children.

I feel like this guy behaved as oddly as Jay C. Smith from the Mainline murder, led a double life and struggled with money like the Todt family father, was fascinated with death and animals like Jim Jones, and lived on the run like Clyde Barrow.

I know ya'll are gonna come for me, but being that this is only the 3rd video, of this creator, I've watched I'm willing to take that risk… I really hope that, being that this video is a few years old, she has since stopped using that tone in her voice when quoting people and that exaggerated way she emphasizes word and parts of sentences. That really is extremely weird to listen to.

  • @sarahsnow8746

This one was a doozy… and quite confusing at times. Very interesting though.

  • @Juli-ge4yp

Well done! I had never heard of this man man. I live close to Wilmette & would have loved to have seen the house on 11th street, but apparently it has been demolished.

  • @kristen1324

You read these letters really well.

  • @JR-xw5nv

It makes me infuriated to hear the letters the children wrote, knowing Holmes never sent them and that the mother would only see them after Holmes murdered her children. I'm glad he was executed. No death could be painful enough, though.

  • @johnkeenan1829

You may be interested in Francis Tumblety, who grew up in Rochester. He was the only American suspected of being Jack the Ripper. There is a letter online from James Littlechild, one of the Scotland Yard inspectors on the Ripper case, who writes that he was convinced Tumblety was the Ripper.

  • @julianorris3543

Wow….this is completely different to the story I've heard…..thanks for getting to the truth…..love your channel xx

  • @terridemaio2926

    This was A Great series

  • @kimvankastel3189

I wonder how HH Holmes explained the disappearance of Howard to his sisters. Does anyone know?

  • @andreapoulieva6717

4 + hours later, I STILL don't understand what his motive was…for anything. Greed ? Lust ? Evil ? Plain crazy ? Nothing seems to completely make sense.

  • @rosesmith6925

I glad I asked for this one back when you said H H true history was exaggerated and I wondered how so. Now I have a migraine and need to nap 😂

  • @rachaellong5511

trained a mouse while on death row; Mr Jingles😊🐁

  • @secretcrazygirl

I didn't realize H.H. Holmes was doing his misdeeds in my back yard. I live extremely close to Ogdensburg. This part of NY has a way of letting people disappear, many come here to hide away.

  • @jackieblue6232

I will look for the live although I'm sure I've already missed it. I'm sure it will be entertaining anyway as you are my favorite true Crime storyteller besides mindshock.

  • @rachelcamp7887

  • @karenb136

Thanks for this true version. I had always heard the one about him trapping people from the World’s Fair in the different rooms and torturing them.

  • @mikaylafoster1044

Wait so all the 200 murders or so they claimed happened in that hotel didn’t really happen? I thought they found bodies and stuff there?

  • @sisboombah9595

I stayed at the Palmer House hotel many years ago. We ate cheesecake and drank milk that we ordered from room service that night, that was brought to us on a fancy tray. We watched Sixth Sense there and I remember being completely blown away by the ending! One of the rare times a movie really, really impressed me, and also a rare occurrence to be staying in such an expensive hotel.

  • @BooglePoots

And THIS is why I watch every video Stephanie makes, even if I think I know the story she somehow always proves me wrong!

  • @youdisappeared

H.H. Holmes, yeah, yeah, I know….oh my God. I did NOT know. Amazing series!

  • @renee1961

I found it odd that for someone who went to medical school to basically become a doctor, he never really did do a lot to be a practicing doctor. I think that maybe he wanted a way to know that he could get certain licenses for some of the things he was doing. I wonder why people never really questioned why he had the medical degree, but really didn't do a lot to use it sucessfully. I think that his denials of murdering who he murdered was probably his way of accepting what he had done, and had a hard time probably mentally accepting that he did commit murder. I think that he must have known, at some point, that he just wanted to murder for the thrill of it more than to actually have a career.

  • @LindeeLove

The research you put into your programs is really amazing.

  • @bugbaker503

Stephanie What do you think of the theory that Holmes was Jack the Ripper?

  • @callieannstarkey4606

Cue eye roll with HH Holmes , amnesia story 😂😂😂😂😂

  • @callieannstarkey4606

I love your station Stephanie. I don’t understand why he needed the children and kill them 😭😭😭😭😭 what an absolute piece of shit . My son is 8 , such a beautiful age with so much innocence .

  • @ravensteward40

I’m from Indianapolis 👀 and I’ve been to the circle so many times I know the exact monument you’re talking about it’s beautiful in the winter all lit up
