This is one of my favorite stories. I’m fascinated by some of the brilliance of early performers. I also have always had a bit of a crush on Orson Wells.

  • @moonflower9403

My favorite video you have done 💜 it was great!

  • @Rainbowofthefallen

Just commenting for the algorithm 💙❤️

Wow I had no idea Orson grew up where I did! The Todd school for boys is now an apartment building still named after the headmaster.

  • @TashieRags

If anyone wants a good movie about Orson's antics with the Federal Theatre Project I highly recommend "The Cradle Will Rock." It seriously is one of my all-time favorite films. This was a great video, by the way! Thank You!

Saying other Governments have used media as political Propaganda.. is misleading. Our Government has been doing the same thing.. only difference is they never made it known. And to answer the lady.. No, people don't think anymore.. and no need for a war for the Propagandists to savagely manipulate the minds of Americans.. politicians, Our Government & Our media are professional Propagandists.

  • @Mandy-nt2cs

I think about Hemingway all the time because of my polydactyl kitty lol

If I had Stephanie as my history teacher in grade school, I’d probably be a much bigger history buff. Thank you for your time and hard work you put into your content. It’s calming listening to you! ❤

Not going to lie, the 2005 film scared the living shit outta me! I almost couldn't make it through, for some odd reason. I LOVE scary movies, but that film just seemed a little too real for me. The sound the alien crafts made in the film sent me over the edge.

You can see where citizen kane came from. Even later when he was forced to work sometimes only for a paycheck, he’s always interesting, captivating. He truly had “it” on stage or on camera.

  • @christycofer1889

Catherine the Great is an amazing book!!

  • @mikaplaysgames310

Watching you completely nerd out in this video made my night 😂❤

  • @reesaallen5474

I don’t think they were stupid for thinking that aliens arrived…but Jersey? Why? Then they can travel through space but wade through water?😂😂

  • @luciaseacreature8705

  • @brianfarrand1919

The government is censoring us right now.

  • @teodorasavoiu4664

36:00 I think it's kinda funny how HG Wells basically thought "what if aliens exist and they do to us what we did to the native folk in the Americas and the Pacific"

I mean… it wasn't exactly a time of peace and prosperity for those on the receiving end of british imperial conquest. It was the 1800s after all. I wonder if any of his English and American readers caught on to the irony at the time

  • @SabrinaBrown0402

I’m not completely familiar with Welles but, I’m thinking a Rabbit Hole is in my future. Stephanie, you have made me go down so many rabbit holes since I found your channel. Yes! Research, you have definitely helped me with my research skills. This episode is so great. Thank You!

I think you are arrogant & rude, pretending that you would have known it was fake news.

You don't take into consideration all the hardships life had thrown at these folks. They were barely into the age of automobiles, trains and radio. They had been through brutal wars, bombings in our country and others, the collapse of the economy, famine, the dust bowl, being DIRT POOR, strife all around the world. All their trusted news was broadcast on the radio & it was a vital information source that they needed to have absolute trust in. Keeping their families safe was their pride, and a way of life. My grandparents and their families survived through all that and they were not ignorant or naive. YOU would not have survived all they had to find a way to survive (and mostly by horse & buggy and telegram, I might add).

I agree entertainment is important, but how much entertainment do you think the regular Joe Schmoe had been exposed to at that date and time?

Talk about ignorant!!! Did you even bother to talk to your grandparents and great-grands about their lives? Oh, I seriously doubt it.

Radio was a big thing before our time. Pity most of us missed that. We grew up with television. I find it hard to imagine how Radio broadcasts affected their imagination so much.

  • @lindc1070

Pls do Ernest Hemingway and also Pablo Picasso

  • @irenestrmnss4496

PEOPLE THOUGHT IT WAS REAL 😉🌍😥😱

  • @bubbajones6486

I like to consider myself somewhere educated; and well traveled, as well as being familiar with that broadcast in particular…with that said…I still had that glorious “Captain America” moment with the “Raccoon City” comment lllj

  • @IzzyOnTheMove

See, the thing is that, aliens probably could survive on Earth because they were not made to live on Earth, just like we would not survive out of Earth. Just the odds of having the conditions together for life on one planet, (oxygen, water, right gravity, right air pressure, temperature, distance from a star of the right size, satellite planet – for tides and gravity equalizing-, the presence of all the necessary microbes, enough energy but not too much energy, etc), the odds of having all this in one place are so infinitesimal, it's a fluke that we're here. 99.9999999999999999999999% of the rest of the universe is nothingness – no space, no energy, not even matter. We're a blip and the chances of other forms of life are next to impossible, logically.

  • @laurenfuhr2684

I would love if you started doing deep dives on famous authors or historical figures like Hemingway!

  • @ericasheppard3063

Yaaaaa!!!! My favorite movie is “The Long, Hot, Summer” (also Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward)….fell in love with Orson Welles the first time I saw it.
