In the 1970s, when young Aton Pates went missing, the world was a different place. With no social media, children ran freely in the neighborhoods. But for one family, normal life took a tragic turn. The disappearance of Aton Pates became one of New York City’s most baffling unsolved cases for almost 40 years until recent developments shed light on the dark secrets hidden for so long.
Even though Aton’s body was never found, the confession of Pedro Hernandez, a former bodega worker, brought some closure to the Pates family. Pedro’s chilling confession of luring Aton into the bodega basement and strangling him was backed by disturbing details shared with family members and friends over the years. Despite attempts to blame Jose Antonio Ramos for the crime, Pedro was finally found guilty and sentenced to 25 years to life.
Justice was finally served for Aton Pates after decades of uncertainty. His parents, Julie and Stanley, found solace in knowing the truth and finally sold their SoHo loft, moving to Hawaii for a fresh start. The case serves as a stark reminder of the importance of speaking up and sharing information, as it took years for the truth to come to light. As we reflect on the tragic story of Aton Pates, may his memory bring awareness to the dangers that children may face and the need for vigilance and protection.

The justice system failed these boys so many times. It’s crazy how much minor crimes can land you in jail forever yet sex crimes are just thrown out. It makes you really think about how many of these people are really into harming children.

Temu is allegedly well known for scamming people, and their sister company is having allegations of scamming people aswell, I’ve seen acouple of customer complaints that their credit cards were completely dry after using Temu to buy something once.

Cases like these are why schools started calling parents in the morning if their child didn't come to school and you didn't call in.. this way the police have more of a head start instead pf a whole 8 hours going by

This case broke my heart, Annie. 😢 I feel so bad for his parents. My Mama had 4 babies in 4 years so as the oldest I had to walk a mile to and from Kindergarten when I was 5. This was in 1967. I'm lucky that nothing happened to me other than slipping on ice and falling down the drainage ditch. My grandfather was driving by just getting home from work and he heard me screaming. I'm lucky to be alive.
