As a meticulous crime investigator, I carefully scrutinize every detail of this transcript for any clues or evidence that may lead to solving the case at hand. The suspect’s statements are analyzed with precision, looking for inconsistencies or admissions of guilt.
Based on previous investigations, we know that this type of crime is often premeditated and carefully planned out. The suspect’s behavior and language are examined closely for signs of motive or intent.
Additionally, we are aware of certain facts surrounding the case that may help piece together the puzzle. These include witness statements, forensic evidence, and any surveillance footage that may have been obtained.
By spinning the text through the lens of a highly detailed crime investigator, we are able to uncover hidden truths and unravel the mystery behind this heinous act. Our determination and dedication to seeking justice for the victims drives us to leave no stone unturned in our relentless pursuit of the truth.

Thanks for joining today! What do you guys think? Foul play or accidental? Comment below. Perhaps an ignorant question, but if she were buying drugs from her brother or given drugs, could she have thought she was taking something like cocaine and it was unknowingly laced with Fent? Or If that were the case, wouldn't trace of the core drug show up in her system? And if it was pure and not laced, if she snorted it like cocaine and in that amount wouldn't she die instantly?

I think the first detective had racial as well as women problems. A woman as beautiful as her is hated by men that know they could never. If I heard right promethazine was one of the drugs found?? It's an anti nausea I believe which says someone gave it to her wo her knowledge and didn't want a mess from someone who doesn't take opiates like her. It's a calculated mixture that I see being used to overtake a woman. How awful for this family!! God bless this situation.

@suzannesutton5123
I feel so sad for her family

@freethinker13
Matt didn’t reach out to the family bc he killed her “accidentally”.
@frenchmama1837
Wouldn't he have left if he did something tho?
@ermaksplug94
the twirlers sure are quiet on this one
@bonnymcdonald3985
My personal opinion is why on the 1st date would you get so intoxicated that you pass out with a complete stranger in your home. Also, the police could have been waiting on toxicology report which does take 6-8 weeks for processing. I’m not saying there weren’t mistakes made. HOWEVER, a prosecutor could have told the police they could not do anything without the toxicology report.
@elizabethwivo9561
👏🏼👏🏼 fool play!!
We NEED an update Annie 🙏🏼
@Danisuzette
Oh the poor landlord too. That was NOT his job. He shouldn't have had to do that.
@JGreez
I’m sorry but I just find the reporting on this case hard to believe. Did the detective try to notify the family but was unable to locate next of kin? There was a man on scene with a dead body and they didn’t interview him? They didn’t investigate the crime scene? This is all coming from a distraught family and we don’t have the police’s side. I read an article online that after the detectives were suspended the union fought it and it went all the way to the American Arbitration Association, which is an independent third party, and they voted to reinstate the detectives.
@stephaniewilt7214
I think when she got up to go to the bathroom he dosed her. That's what I think
@necummins8696
Hooker hoops. An not 17 year old 💅 nails
@jeralynquinlan306
I absolutely 1000% believe this investigation was 1 of 2 things , either a cover up because the “ lead detective “ from the beginning knew LaFountoin personally & didn’t want to get him in trouble OR just is a lousy , lazy possibly racist person who didn’t bother investigating because this is about a white perp versus a black victim .
I hope this poor family gets the justice they so badly deserve & found out, wrong or right, good or bad, exactly what happened to their precious loved one . They deserve answers !! And to the family. I am so very sorry for your loss .
@nicolejackson4753
I would have never invited him to my home. He slipped her something and things definitely went left. The police are horrible. This isnt the first case that the police didnt take seriously 😢. S.I.P Lauren❤❤❤
@woodyssnake8562
There's no way to have an opinion without the DNA tests from the condom
@mousemd
You worried me at first. That was a year ago now. You fixed the problem. You sound fine now
@christinaslone304
I believe she already ingested the fentanyl which is why she was getting sick throwing up. Also, the snoring she was doing was probably her overdosing from the drug. I know this because I had somebody die in the bed next to me that was overdosing on fentanyl. I didn’t know at the time because they were snoring so loud. I thought they were just sleeping in reality they were overdosing.
@badmikefinecustomssanders526
Dude is 100% guilty 😠
@StephanieJac3329
Any update?
@BluePhoenix1973
Maybe sleep on the sofa in that situation because he also would have to leave her front door unlocked.I could not leave someone especially if they were passed out sleeping behind an unlocked door, it's unsafe. I would have slept on the sofa though not in her bed with her.
@asmrcrafts9279
What sucks is…. let's say he is innocent and she did go take drugs or something … they can easily dig deep. They can look at her history, ppl who knew her,etc. But they're doing nothing???? How infuriating…
@jdd1110
She was a very very pretty woman
@scottdavidson526
Lauren is gorgeous.
@aishascash
Thank you for thinking the same question we have been asking as the family thank you for putting it out there we got so many negative things said about her like no one deserves to die the way she did 💜 🙏🏾
@aishascash
We’re to this day still waiting for answers on her case it’s crazy
@aishascash
Police told us to basically to leave them alone that they would contact us on her case but it was told to me that Lauren knew the guy longer than the first time
@aishascash

My heart and prayers go out Lauren’s family.I 🙏🏻 for the family to get the truth.There are way to many red flags the incompetence by the police and disrespect toward Lauren and her family is outrageous.Matt I believe drugged

@jameso.4381
The Bridgeport police Dept. is the most incompetent and corrupt police department in the nation! — Besides Lauren Smith's totally BOTCHED investigation, you don't have to look for any further proof than the ARREST and IMPRISONMENT of the Bridgeport Police Dept's Chief of Police at the time of Lauren's death – ARMANDO J. PEREZ, who was arrested and sent to PRISON on multiple FELONY convictions!
And, the internal backstabbing evidenced by the multiple, incompetent detectives throwing each other under the bus, as well as the lack of accountability, falsification of documents, and evidence tampering that is so prevalent in that corrupt, ghetto, disgrace-of-a-police department, is an outright insult and a black eye to the law enforcement profession.
@cherrygirl64
Being a nurse I say that he gave her a cocktail of drugs that he's probably used before. It was the drug cocktail mixed with alcohol that made her sick. He sexually assaulted her when she was knocked out or even alived. Just another reason not to bring strangers in your home. The lack of good LE is a whole other issue, that simply allowed him to walk away. I sure hope they can put a case together without the benefit of being immediately post crime.
@sandrabaker5298
Promethazine is the generic name for Phenergan, a nausea & vomiting medication.
Hydroxyzine is an antihistamine that can be used to treat not only allergies, but nausea & vomiting.
They both require a prescription.
@sandrabaker5298
You should NEVER let a stranger know where you live, much less invite them over for a date!
@gennimae3710
Any updates on this?
@aleiciakimbro4959
Wow she is beautiful. So unfortunate, I can’t imagine what her family going through
@dwaynebrewer8497
We all know why this happened this way…..stop it! Had the tables been turned it would be a slam dunk conviction. It’s incredibly irresponsible for us in this day and age to not say what’s true. It doesn’t matter what side of the fence you are on.
@user-ui8jn4kx4u
Stranger overdoses have happened. I've seen them. J/S

Accidental overdose Alcohol mixed with any substance is deadly
@ritarule1088
The Detective needs to lose his job and pension. He didn’t even carry out the basic procedure. And not to notify the parents of their daughter’s death is beyond belief. I hope Lauren and her family get justice.
@tdjeh379
Like so many young adults she was using dating website , ask 40 dollars, inviting a man you don’t know in your apartment..
@amberlachance9124
How does this happen??
@bartlettredneck4583

@stellanadrygaylo9865
I think Bumble is not only a dating app, you can also set it for finding friends. Also, you can find house parties around your city and join them.
@keeprockingit2018
12:52 so let me get this straight. She had $1300 in cash, but yet borrowed 40 from him to get her nails done.???? Uh what??!!??
