I don't think it's a problem that Judge Newman used the word "proper" when addressing the jury after they returned a verdict.

If I'm understanding right, in lawspeak, "proper" means "in accordance with the law". It doesn't mean "correct", or "right", or "accurate".

It absolutely could be considered an outrage. Not because Newman has necessarily done anything wrong (I hope he didn't) but because the actions from Miss Becky may have brought the legal system into disrepute.

I think this particular courthouse, and the area where the Murdaughs have reigned so supreme for so long, has had a lot of dodgy things going on. Who would be best placed to know about the behaviour of court staff in the area but the Murdaughs?

Miss Becky might well have been somebody Poot and Jim Griffin knew about, knew she was dodgy from the beginning of trial.

Perhaps – speculating – Miss Becky was somebody they could use as an ace up their sleeve, to play if needed. If this was the case, that's some seriously good tactics.

Catching up on Murdaugh goings on. This is wild. If true, he absolutely deserves a new trial. (And I think he absolutely did it).

  • @WildPurplePanda

I really don't think prior bad acts should have been admitted at all beyond what they needed to show he maybe did it because he was stalling (which is the dumbest motive I've ever heard in my life, I honestly can't see anyone killing most of their immediate family to stall some investigation into some financial crimes which would happen eventually either way) it feels like a pile on with all the financial crimes, just to prove he is a bad person. It would have been a much fairer trial without the financial stuff, and I think you would have had the same verdict

IMO Alex will do ANYTHING to reverse the guilty verdict on the murders. He knows he is not going to ever get out of prison. He just wants to be able to say he did NOT kill them to Buster and his/Maggie's family. From what Maggie's sister said on the stand, I really doubt a reversed verdict would make her feel him innocent. HOWEVER, the Murdaughs live in a fantasy world and Alex was the one who burst the bubble and he wants to be able to say he is innocent of the murders, but he only stole the money from the clients because he was on drugs. Give. Me. A. Break.

It’s actually saddening to see an extremely public instance of the state violating the defendants right to a fair trial and all anyone in this chat can say is how they hate alex and his lawyers it doesn’t matter what he did or didn’t do if the state had to cheat to win that’s not justice it’s a hanging show trial. It shouldn’t be upheld you can dislike him and his lawyers but if you ever found yourself in the same situation innocent or guilty you would be lucky to have lawyers doing the same for you that they’ve done for alex here

Please stop triple stating the same sentence please. I only have so much time to listen to your broadcasts and they are long enough and frequently go off topic.

I hope Becky Hill's book flops.

  • @davewade30

Not a good look for this court. Between Newmann giving national interviews and the clerk of court manipulating jurors and writing a book to grasp her 15 minutes of fame, it's very disappointing behavior to see. More like a high school than a courtroom. Especially given Murdaugh's guilt.

  • @davewade30

I don't believe any judge should ever be allowed to retry a case after sitting through a complete trial and hearing not only all the included evidence, but all the excluded evidence as well. Of course after all of that, they will absolutely form an opinion on guilt or innocence. They are human like all of us. So second trials should automatically be assigned to a new judge.

I was wondering if he felt that Paul would be better off dead than in jail. Maggie death remains a mystery

You’d of thought a judge of Newman’s status and years of being a judge he would have known better himself!!.. to be doing all these interviews expressing his bias and this with miss Becky.. it doesn’t make him look that good in the light of other cases he’s had before hand never mind Alex and his family!!!.. it’s a shame that he’s coming to the end of his career and he’s showing how bias he was or is to this case !!!

  • @beverleymclean2167

The judge did go to far with his comments even I thought he shouldn’t have mentioned about his family!!!.

I thought the Jurors dressed up after several “suggestive” comments by the clerk throughout the proceedings and then came to a quick decision, probably even faster since the smokers couldn’t smoke.
