I really really wish the van had been in Gabby’s mom’s name so she could have at least reported a stolen vehicle when this all first went down. It always frustrated me so much that in the early stages he couldn’t even get busted on theft of the van and gabby’s debit cards since there was no Gabby to affirm they had been stolen. 😭

  • @fredkapp498

You remind me of our old cannabis lawyer Allison Margolin fast talking foul mouth. Other than she's a Harvard liberal defense atty. I believe you worked for DA and probably more conservative.

  • @nowasiwassaying...1699

I don't doubt he regretted what he did after he did it.

  • @nowasiwassaying...1699

I don't envy the laundries. Idk if I could swallow never touching my son again, no matter WHAT he has done. I understand wanting to make final memories with him, going camping, getting away together one last time. Especially since he had been away for so long prior. It's easy for me to be angry on behalf of the petitos because if my child was missing and her partner knew where she was but wasn't saying anything I'd be FURIOUS and hurt. But I also can empathize with the laundries in a huge way. Selfishly, I'd want those last moments with my child regardless of whatever they did. I don't envy either family.

  • @amber893

I'm so glad everyone else relates certain sayings to every song we know just like i do. Lol.

  • @beokfoundation

The fact that they knew and did nothing but protect their son from the consequences of his heinous actions…I can't imagine being that kind of person.

  • @xochilttoltec1022

The thing about the law is that it never stands still. It's a reflection of society.

  • @johannabruckner4736

I am a lawyer in Bolivia and there is a fine line between what is legal and illegal and we call it legalo….the gray part between the written law and the practice of the law in the best way possible

  • @thebeestwin

    French lawnerd here ! 🙂
I find it surprising that you guys don't have the possibility to prosecute someone for not disclosing a crime… american law is usually way more severe than french law.
In France we can prosecute under "non dénonciation de crime", although in this specific case it wouldn't have applied because that law includes immunity for direct family members (parents, siblings, spouse, children).

  • @manuelajager8517

All they want are answers. Their son is already dead. Just give the family some answers.

  • @SometimesPerplexed

I’m just wondering if there’s an intent of recovering money that exceeds the cost of litigation or if the plaintiffs are just solely trying to make a point? I guess Laundries have some non exempt assets, but enough to cover endless attorney fees? Is there an expectation their homeowners insurance will cover? I wouldn’t think Bertolino’s malpractice insurance would cover injuries to non-clients; is he wealthy?

  • @Su_aSponte

Seems like Bertalino covered almost everyone’s entire ass here…if Brian is claiming innocence publicly tho, does that release his lawyer from privilege?

  • @lisascott1794

Will the Laundrie’s argue that the reason Brian claimed he needed a lawyer is because when they parted they were fighting and with the recent brush with the highway patrol in UT, he thought he needed representation

  • @Mize_Cooki2

Great show here. I am Newby. I will be back!! I'll be listening to everyone and gathering all I can then sort it in my head (😂 not easy to do) you all behave & happy & keep it going.

  • @lisaskokowski1870

I’m truly sorry for the loss of your sister 😢

  • @lisaskokowski1870

You can’t bring their beautiful daughter back 😢

  • @lisaskokowski1870

Casey Kat I’m very sorry for your loss

  • @lisaskokowski1870

On this very serious case.Very tragic 😢

  • @lisaskokowski1870

Don’t you remember my cousin Vinny ,he was a NY lawyer.Just trying to lighten things up .

  • @BritishRiver

Your comments are interesting to me. When I heard that statement in the news at the time, I took it to mean she was dead. "Reunited" could mean dead or alive. If she was alive, they would have been specific. It was clear to me that they were saying to her parents "She's no longer alive but we aren't going to give evidence against our son." I literally thought they were trying to tell them she had died.

  • @brie9960

My daughter murders someone and tells me? We’re going to the police station with the lawyers. You did it, you’re gonna get caught, may as well take responsibility before everything blows up even more. These parents are disgusting. I get protecting your kid, but not at the expensive of someone else’s literal life.

  • @weir_family

Nothing to do with the main point of the video, however, sooooo cool that Emily was an EMT in college!!!! Is thaf s common thing for law students? I know that Bruce Rivers from CLR ( Criminal Lawyer Reacts) YouTube channel also was an EMT and drove an ambulance while in Law School!
    Emily was an EMT doƙ

  • @jamison1280

I just watched the Depp v Heard documentary. You should be ashamed of yourself. Deeply, truly ashamed.

  • @sinswept

That letter is such self-pitying piece of garbage. Fricking coward. If he had really meant to just end her suffering and knew he was going to check out himself anyway – why not tell her family straight away what happened and where she was? Why not notify local authorities? Why wait and go on holiday and get a lawyer? I have a list a mile long of words I want to call him, but they are not fit for public consumption.

  • @emmikate

Baby Grace, I hope your soul was put back on earth with the most loving and protective parents. You deserve to experience life sweet girl. We all love you here.❤

  • @snoopy104

How does this compare to a bank robbery getaway driver? There's no warrant out for the robbers yet. And it's not a crime to drive someone from one place to another. Trying to understand the difference here.

  • @Ailith

How do we really know he did not escape and he is living incognito in another country…

  • @aksez2u

I think what Emily alluded to early on, that the Petito family is going to get answers by going through this process, may be all they're really after. They may have been told by their attorney that this lawsuit is a long shot, and they don't care, because it's about making those repulsive people explain and admit everything they know and when they knew it.

  • @bramsrockhopper3377

Listening to this excellent breakdown…my thoughts are just, “my god, the law is f*cked up”

Of course they knew Brian had killed her.
Of course they cleaned out the van of any evidence.
Of course the holiday was a deliberate part of covering her murder up.
    Of course their lawyer knew.
Of course the fact that the parents went out to ‘help’ the failing search and led the police straight to Brian’s body after they’d failed to find him is damn suspicious and argues that they KNEW where he’d ‘killed himself’, so did he actually kill himself? Was he coerced? What the hell happened?
Of course the police should have properly investigated right at the start when they stopped the van to do a wellness check after they’d been seen fighting and someone was concerned enough to call the police… Poor Gabby was failed so badly…

This is just insane. The Laundries have to be culpable for something because THEY KNEW.

Just because the police were unaware that Brian had killed her shouldn’t make him NOT a fugitive. Why wasn’t Brian IMMEDIATELY a the prime suspect given they were together and he came back with her van alone and she was missing. And there should be a legal obligation to tell the police if you know that someone KILLED someone.

    AAAAAAAAAGGGGHHHHHHH.

    🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️

    Just my opinions.

  • @esthersiersema

Is there a time stamp were the subject really starts? Sorry would love to watch 3,5 hours but have no time for that 😅

  • @Lisa-om4it

I think people are capable of understanding the difference between morality and the law, but they refuse to admit that what they WANT to be true isn’t true.

  • @MartaBo012

The govmt spent $$$ searching for Brian in those parks when the parents knew exactly where he was. Can’t they be liable for those costs?

  • @welshrose

Personally I wouldn't want to be in anyone's situation
Brian's parents must of been struggling also
I'm not gonna say I would do it any different I honestly don't know in my head yes I'm taking my son straight to the police station telling him to turn himself in but
There is a part of me as a mother who wants to do what ever it takes to keep my child out of prison to defend and protect
I can't say I would answer the phone to gabby's parents ( what would I say to them ? My son killed you're daughter ? We haven't heard from them ? )
They must of been devastated also knowing the truth and struggling with what they should do

  • @SusieLynnWeightLossCheerleader

Your take is so refreshing! Always!

  • @Kaera0585

You’re birthday is the day after mine ❤️❤️♉️♉️ I’m may 6 and my late brother was the 5th

  • @traceyvincent5843

I think the Laundries were completely in the wrong morally for Gabby and her family but I get why they would keep the secret to have those last days with their son. I guess they knew he was going to take his own life or disappear forever and they couldn't bring Gabby back so just spent time with him maybe tried to persuade him to give himself up. I do hope the Petitto family win their case as they suffered at the hands of the Laundries who could have given them the truth of the whereabouts of their daughters remains. That letter is an insult to Gabby memory. He only cared about himself.

  • @goldielocksfly3

What about the cops in FL. not seeing Brian Laundrie drive away?

  • @albin2232

Laundries are just covers for for money laundering. They don't wash clothes, at all.

  • @mjttoo

Emily, I sincerely believe that when Bryan went home without Gabby he told his parents what he had done and then his parents took him on the camping trip. They gave him a bunch of pills to put him to sleep and I firmly believe that his father shot him in the head, and that’s how they knew where to find him.

  • @BrittenThompson

I think the Laundries knew that Brian had committed suicide long before his body was ever found and were potentially out for revenge with Gabby’s family.

  • @kaylacook5046

Could it be considered helping a fugitive when there was a warrant out for his arrest as a person of intrest and they knew exactly where in the park he was and waited until they could go in to 'find' him

  • @sharonpeek4578

Maybe the police didn't know ,at the time ,but NOW they know that the Laundries knew, and aided and abetted their son who they knew was a murderer, at the time. Therefore, they should be charged with accessory after the fact, and aiding and abetting. By the logic you're using, Emily, no one can ever be convicted of a crime if the police weren't aware of the crime until later.

  • @SimonkaShow

So basically they got away with murder thanks to their lawyer friend. Times likes this I have to believe there's a eternal karmic punishment beyond the limits of human law, bc no matter how you cut it these people are cold blooded enablers of a killer and if they were not rich privilege white suburban family they would get their justice in this lifetime not the next
