The tragic and devastating case of Riley’s death has left investigators baffled. Upon hearing of their child’s death, Melissa and Kevin immediately suspected foul play, believing Riley had been abducted from their home. As the search for the three-year-old came to a heartbreaking conclusion in the Fort Scythe woods, a mother and daughter made the gruesome discovery of a small body floating in a creek. The investigation took a dark turn as Kevin was interrogated, with police showing little restraint in accusing him of his daughter’s murder. Despite Melissa’s protests of his innocence, tensions ran high as Detective Ed Hayes aggressively confronted her, accusing Kevin of the unthinkable crime. As a highly detailed crime investigator, it is crucial to piece together the evidence and unravel the truth behind this tragic case of child homicide.

When my fiancé seized suddenly in front of me and became unresponsive – prompting me to call 911, I was treated like absolute shit by my local cops and by the Massachusetts state police (who i did not even ask to be there). I will never forgive any of them. I hold nothing against the paramedics. They tried their best and left quickly with my fiance. I was in complete shock as they took my fiancé away in an ambulance after they restarted his heart activity. I couldn’t go with him because I was being questioned by cops who quickly just seemed to appear in my house… as my young son slept in his room – it was awful. It’s been over 2 years, but I feel like it happened yesterday. The worst part of all of this is that it took 3 hours for the cops that were already in my house to inform me that my fiancé had been pronounced dead at the hospital – because they were waiting for the state police homicide detective and his CRIME SCENE photographer to come to my house before they told me. So that he would be able to observe my reaction when the local cops who had been here all night, told me that the love of my life was dead. I was sitting on the floor of my living room just crying as the homicide detective ransacked my condo and photographed everything. He was loud on purpose and trying to wake my 9 year old up. He asked me why/if I killed my fiance over and over again. They all questioned me and tried to wear me down for hours. They finally left at about 4:00 in the morning and just left me sitting on the floor feeling numb and traumatized at the same time. I can see why some people might give in and falsely confess under stress and duress. Anyway, the whole point of my story is to empathize with people who are falsely accused of killing/hurting their loved one. I also deeply empathize with those people who are grieving or in complete shock – who have to suffer through a completely inappropriate/violent/traumatizing interrogation when they are innocent. I never heard back from all of the cops, because I am sure they realized I didn't kill my fiance as they went on in their investigation. Unfortunately, there are so many innocent people who are not so "lucky". Of course…I never got an apology and I now have a panic attack when I see a cop or a cop car. Thanks for reading ❤

This case is so sad. The toll it took on their marriage was so bad they divorced and had new families. Kevin ended up dying in a car crash 😢

It sickens me to think how many parents in their grief are treated so horribly. I understand questioning and investigating parents, and spouses, but they should still be treated with the respect of someone who just loss their loved one

I just recently heard a little bit of the story of Patricia Stallings. Convicted of poisoning her baby with anti freeze, but later gave birth to another child in prison who had the same symptoms as the first child while in foster care. I want to know how she is today.
