Regarding the clerk of court stuff you just kept repeating your same information; say the stuff, and move on! Otherwise I like the videos.

If they take her phone because of her son’s wire tapping, yet find evidence of jury tampering, will it be admissible?

This is the consequences of corrupt small town government, the guilty can walk free! With so much local corruption in small towns/counties, the pictures become too muddy to find out truths! I don’t doubt that he’s guilty, but when you muddy the water so badly, it’s hard to put someone in prison for life. The thought of someone’s life being completely destroyed over false allegations makes it too risky.

I wish she’d say what she said about jurors! It’s no longer available, so…

In the US, your place of employment isn't legally obligated to pay you wages for missing work to complete jury duty. They can, but aren't legally bound to.

Its by county, but in the county I reside in and most of the surrounding counties, an arrest warrant will be issued if you do not appear given for the month you are summoned in. You have to call a number every morning to see if there's a case that day set for voir dir (ignore my terrible spelling if another language).

I had jury duty once and am indifferent about it honestly. When you are summoned in my state, your employer is obligated to let you complete jury duty without any reprimand of any kind (judges despise the companies that don't allow people to show up for jury duty) from your employer.

Thankfully, I lost no wages (my employer paid my wages) and used no vacation/sick time to complete jury duty.

The court officials were really nice, and even asked me a question about mileage (I reside close to the courthouse and they were so confused – I can walk to it). I don't know much about the cases, because we never entered the court room, but the way it was done is really well.

The courthouse for my county has more than one entrance (it has 4 known to me entrances), where there's only one entrance with the clerk of courts and where their offices reside. We didn't enter those doors and were specifically told which doors to use for jury duty. We were lead out that same door and were instructed to only use that door while on jury duty. We saw Judge assistants and the security staff, and once – the judge himself came in to personally thank us for taking the time out of our days to be there (he was sincere) and inform us of the situation. They were really respectful and mindful of keeping any possibility of jury tampering out of the courthouse. The others that were there, I talked to a few of them since I am a local and know the place fairly well. Everyone I interacted with seems to respect the system when a trial goes to a jury, which made me fairly proud of the county as a whole.

I wouldn't mind seeing the actual court process from a standpoint of a jury member because of that experience alone, but any part of the process could ruin it.

A clerk of court, someone in a position I respect, doing that is appaling to say the least. Their system and how they handle jury summons/trial should be looked into and look for ways to improve their process.

Edit: smat phone likes to try and make me say words that aren't what I want to use.

When I had jury duty in Huntsville Alabama in 2018, i got paid $9 and change a day. I was not choosen to be on the jury but still lost 3 days of viable pay. It was a pretty rough month. Yeah, Becky is an entitled boomer that has gotten too comfortable in job that likely pays and benefits her much more than it does to be a juror.

Kouri Richens Book too…. so thats 3 lol

  • @maggiep6605

Pardon my rampant speculation, but Murdaugh didn't request a change of venue for the murder but did for the financial crimes. Could this be why? Because Alec, dick and poot knew rumors about this staff that could help them out but judge neuman (and I think Creighton waters) aren't familiar enough with that county to know?

This feels like the telenovelas like 'the bold and the beautiful' etc. where so much happens and it all seems too ridiculous. But it is actually happening 😅

Wow! I wonder why the Court Clerk would do anything that might interfere with the legitimacy of the verdict?

  • @margaretprenger7657

Emily, please explain what a Re-trial is. For example, what happens to evidence from the first trial?
