Reckless Driver Causes Near-Deadly Crash, Resulting in Teen Volleyball Player Losing Legs

Near-Deadly Crash Leaves Teen Volleyball Player Without Legs Due to Reckless Driver’s Actions

Hey, so let’s break down this crazy case involving Daniel Riley. So, there was this terrible accident in St. Louis where a teenager, Jana, got hit by a car and had to get both her legs amputated. It turns out the driver, Riley, was out on bond for a different crime and had a history of violating his bond. Riley was found guilty and the jury recommended almost 19 years in prison for him.

Now, Jana is suing pretty much everyone involved, including the city of St. Louis, for not having a stop sign at the intersection where the crash happened. She’s also going after Riley’s mom for letting him drive without a license and the car rental company for potentially letting Riley drive when he shouldn’t have been. Another driver involved, Elizabeth Smith, is being sued too for negligence.

There’s a lot of legal jargon involved, like comparative liability and damages, but essentially Jana could be looking at a huge amount of money for all the medical expenses and pain and suffering she’s gone through and will go through in the future. But the sad reality is, even if she wins, getting that money might be a challenge.

The lawsuit has been delayed to 2025, so we’ll have to see how it all plays out. Our hearts go out to Jana and her family in this awful situation. And a big shoutout to Morgan and Morgan for being there to help people in these kinds of situations. Take care and stay safe, everyone.
