I think one of her sisters said it best, that it’s an ancestral/generational trauma situation. Ruby’s behaviour is deep-rooted part of her nurturing and unfortunately she was unable to break the cycle. Unfortunately for children first and foremost. But I hope they’ll be able to shift the energy.

One of the reasons why they want to do a plea deal is because "they don't want to put the children through a trial." That's half true: if the children go on the stand, their testimony is going to infuriate the jury and they WILL get the maximum sentence, which I believe is life. Back inn2922 Ruby was partnering with Jodi. Yes, Ruby has had way more of an active role than she admits. However, I was shocked tgat Ruby admitted to kicking, almost drowning and attempting smothering her son. Why isn’t she being charged with attempted murder? Well, She had fallen into Hildebrandt manipulation first and foremost. I researched this sitiation months ago. I found Jodie to be covertly narcisstic, Narcs have a highly tuned capability of 'testing' personalities for longevity of manipulation. Now this doesnt excuse Ruby, it explains how Jodie became present from day one, Ruby has fallen for Jodi's character, this is true, but Ruby also became a different version of Jodi. The teo combining and you have two highly narcissitic personalities with a podcast. The geographical location of all of this with religious undertones also changes how this all works.
So yeah I can see Ruby being covertly manipulated, covert being the operative word. Jodi's sociopathy would have been dressed in a charming caring compassionate type.
Without Jodi being involved in that family, the abuse might not have happened. I cant really tell.
But with Jodi present, think of a witch with a new play toy and that play toy includes her entire family. Jodi pushes in and takes control, Ruby eventually turned nasty by proxy.
Ruby moved Jodi in and changed and now is in jail. Rubys actions cant be excused, but Jodi narcissism would have been so well done, Ruby eould be left shaking her head. Ruby is a victim, and also a perp, but more so perp.

This is a pointless question given that Ruby was with Jodi by Nov. 2022. It doesn’t matter that she claims she was manipulated by Jodi. We have the evidence of Ruby’s prior behavior as well as her actions that lead to her charges. She is legally and morally culpable. Case closed.
