As a highly detailed crime investigator, I delved deep into the chilling case of Samantha Josephson. It is a stark reminder of the dangers of trusting the wrong people, especially in this age of ride-sharing services. The heinous and terrifying nature of this crime leaves a lasting impact on everyone involved.

From the innocent and joyful nature of Samantha to the calculated evil of Nathaniel Rowland, the events that unfolded that night in March 2019 are nothing short of a nightmare. The evidence, from the blood-stained car to the brutal wounds inflicted on Samantha, paints a gruesome picture of the events that transpired.

The forensic evidence, witness testimonies, and surveillance footage all pointed towards Nathaniel as the perpetrator of this horrific crime. The sheer brutality of the attack, with over 120 stab wounds on Samantha’s body, is a chilling reminder of the evil that exists in this world.

The tireless efforts of Samantha’s family in seeking justice and ensuring the safety of others through initiatives like the “What’s My Name” Foundation and Samantha’s Law are commendable. Their advocacy for stricter safety measures in ride-sharing services has led to changes in legislation to prevent such tragedies from happening again.

Ultimately, Nathaniel Rowland was found guilty of kidnapping, murder, and possession of a weapon during a crime. He will spend the rest of his life behind bars, where he rightfully belongs. Despite the unimaginable pain and loss suffered by Samantha’s family and loved ones, they continue to honor her memory and fight for a safer future for others.

The senseless loss of Samantha Josephson serves as a sobering reminder to always stay vigilant and trust your instincts when it comes to personal safety. The tragic end to her promising life highlights the importance of being cautious and aware in our interactions with others, especially in vulnerable situations.

In the wake of this heartbreaking case, let us remember Samantha for the vibrant, loving soul she was and continue to push for safer practices in our daily lives. May her memory live on as a beacon of strength and resilience in the face of senseless violence.

So sorry for that mom and family

  • @shawnlanders2034

Youvalways shoukd check your Uber before getting in the car. Akways ask your name, if they dint know your name, dint get in.

  • @Getboxed253

In Australia when we get an uber we get the drivers name, an image of the driver, number plates as well as a live gps map and we also have an option to share our ride with someone else who not riding with us. I usually share mine with a family member I know also has uber which allows them to track the ride, see when it starts and when it finishes

  • @tinywalnut6337

The friend who called the police…oof. ooooof.

  • @imajesusgirl7546

You're have TMJ spasms. Had them, they suck. You need an anti anxiety prescription. Especially if you grind your teeth at night.

  • @Demina420

Oh yeah her friend sounded "just like oh my God sooooo worried"…. 🤨

  • @okiedokieartichokie772

That friends accent sounded like so fake. I know it wasn't but it sounded like someone PRETENDING to be a young woman.

But aside from that, NEVER LET A FRIEND LEAVE WITHOUT SAYING GOODBYE AND MAKING SURE THEY GET INTO THEIR CAR/RIDE. I can't even imagine one of my friends just leaving alone with no words. Where we go we go in a pack. And once we separate we don't go to sleep until everyone sent "I'm home now". And we all lived very safe lives, if we went to clubs or took Ubers we wouldn't even leave in separate vehicles. You can't anymore. Women we need to be herd animals. Little buffalo. Be safe.

18:00 her voice is so irritating lol

  • @meganparker7564

This case infuriated me. I feel so sorry for this family. ❤

  • @southwestofnowhere

You can now set up a pin via Uber for your rides where the driver asks for your pin and you can’t start the ride until you confirm. This of course doesn’t help if the Uber driver is a psycho or if you don’t verify the plate or if you don’t verify the driver before you get in . Honestly she probably didn’t have a chance after she shut the door . What happened to her was a freak thing like 9/10 I would believe people would just be shocked someone jumped in the back seat and ask them to get out .

  • @Niceiphone

ANNIE YOU GOT A NEW SUB!

  • @PESWINOMVX

Correct me if I am wrong,,,,,,at first when they pulled him over Annie said they found her DNA under his nails,,,,,,and then during the trial u said they didnt find any DNA on him ???

  • @kosmoandwanda

As an Uber hustler, it's my "side gig" for the last 5ish years, there have been several instances where the wrong person gets in my car. Which is concerning, as I'm a female, and I've had to almost literally kick a man out of the front seat because he was asking for a lift up the block. He was no way "Jasmine" who I was supposed to be picking up and it was a very frustrating and weird exchange in downtown Houston.

Now I'm in the Austin area and I've had plenty of drunk ppl in my car, at all hours and days of the week, but I always confirm names and if the rider is vigilante, they have a pin setup so that the ride can't start until I enter the pin they give me. I'm surprised that there aren't more riders that use that feature, honestly.

But yeah, ppl will order rides for friends and family and the names won't even remotely match up. I just picked a guy up from the Tesla factory and he just hopped in, I tried to confirm his name and he kept saying a different name than what I had and my alarm bells were going off– it was his gf or mom who ordered the ride and put in his middle name instead of his first name but yeah, it doesn't hurt to confirm the correct address too. 😅 he was fine, nice young man, but yeah, I got wigged out at first.

There is also a feature on our end called "share my ride" and I've used that when I drove a guy to Dallas from Austin. My husband texted me immediately and was asking me where I was going since I'd never needed to share my ride before but since it was 3-4hrs, I did it as a safety precaution.

That same button will call 911 if needed, never had to use it before though, thank goodness.

But yeah, I've picked up all sorts of ppl and I'd say it's 50/50 who actually check the license plate and verify their name with me. Maybe 1% verify the address/destination. 😕

  • @jenbunny1984

This case sickened me!!! Sending my condolences to Sammy family!! So senseless!!

  • @judysmith4346

You have TMJ! An ear, nose and throat specialist can diagnose this problem and you should be able to avoid surgery.

  • @ketakool11

Shout out to the 911 operator he was genuinely concerned 😟

  • @deb7891

It’s just so crazy to think that ppl have to go thru horrific things like this in order to have certain laws put in place. I know most of the time we can’t prevent something we don’t know is going to happen but it makes me so sad that these beautiful souls have to be taken away from this earth to get things done & only then will these laws come to pass. So sad.😢 REST IN PARADISE SAMANTHA!

  • @jackhill3489

They belong in Africa not in our society

  • @tamiezinn230

As an Uber driver, you can ask for a confirmation code. The rider gives the driver a code, which the driver has to enter and the ride can start.

  • @Hannahleigh_

I’m from Charleston and I remember the day I saw her missing poster online..so incredibly sad and heartbreaking

  • @traciprovins3221

I was wondering about disabling the child lock button for Uber drivers somehow when beginning a shift???

  • @kericarlson9213

Nk Def knew he was full on married, def found out at some point before murders that wife was pregnant. And i def think conspired to cause a miscarriage. If baby was a boy she would have not have felt she had priority, prob told him if she couldn't give him his first boy they couldn't be together. She had to feel more special than shannan to feel secure. And after ultrasound confirming boy, I think he was supposed to try again to get rid of baby that night shannan came home. But because she was out of first trimester it was not likely to work, and he didn't want to be a single dad with no " time off" for nk, so he decided to kill everyone instead. Imo thats why he couldn't just divorce, or only kill her and not girls. And why nk acted so shady after "disappearances", deleting calls, asking him "what did you do?", etc. Maybe he confessed, maybe not, but either way she was suspicious the plan had gone awry, and she knew cops were too and they'd be looking at her soon. So she started covering her tracks, both for cops and the public. She was guilty of being a shitty person and of several crimes imo ( tampering with evidence, attempted murder of a fetus, obstruction), but i don't think shannan and girls murders was one of them. But she should have been prosecuted for what she did do!! 😡
Also, I do believe she was at the house on the day of, checking up on Chris. But I think out of jealousy, knowing shannan had come home and they were there together.

  • @petg8553

Mom’s statement was beyond powerful. Had me in tears!!

  • @vettetchell6106

Don't order Uber when you are too drunk to make sure you get the right viecle and driver.

  • @timharris2291

Such BS to focus on ride-sharing etiquette and rules. As if that had anything to do with it, or any law whatsoever would have altered this situation.

  • @sharihazlett3774

This is just so sad. I remembered this story

  • @TalentedLMT

I am a licensed massage therapist. It sounds like you’re jaw. Muscles are contracting while you’re talking a local massage. Therapist in your area should know particular massage strokes that would help with your condition.

  • @SimplyMeganPlans

I am so heartbroken for her family. This was so horrible and unnecessary but I can say that her parents are making a huge difference because I heard about the “what’s my name“ movement years ago and always tell everyone about it!!

  • @daylenkelly5029

such a sad case… heartbreaking, truly. She was and is so beautiful. Sending love from upstate SC

  • @wildflower_asmr

Thank you for covering this case, you provided many details I hadn’t heard & I live in Columbia, went to USC & spent many nights partying in five points. I remember vividly how heartbreaking this is/was at the time. Her mother’s speech tore me apart & my heart aches for all of her loved ones. A senseless tragedy.

  • @acerbicgeoff7821

    Ah it's a usual susPect

  • @loloboukher5544

Im sorry i blame friends one always should go out with they friend make sure they get right left be4 goine back to drinking all night fake so called friend and most evil 911 call with out feeling so cold phone call

  • @user-lh1wp1ii9u

They have options to give a code, the driver must enter your code before the ride begins.

  • @danielalexander9921

    Moral of the story…
DON'T DRINK, IT MAY WELL BE YOUR LAST💀

  • @cookiie159

That’s a good suggestion! Or maybe give the driver a code that the rider has to put in the app and if it’s wrong, the ride cancels, or vice versa.

  • @carolejenekelley5200

Be vigilant. Im a driver, I see a name. As a passenger you have, our car model, license plate, name, and picture if driver. This was not Sammy's fault, but it's a lesson to everyone to check all these things before you get in the car, and share your location with someone you trust through the Uber app. In California when you get in there is the sound of the seat belt light that goes off in an airplane. Use all these things to protect yourself

  • @erinburnett4655

the 911 call was painful due to the callers voice. i’m not going to lie. but very very sad story and glad they called.

  • @mikegarippo7815

The hunters moved not a little further south to Mt. Zion, but a little FARTHER south. By the way, hunters are the worst specimens of humanity.

  • @elizabethcross779

At 32:05…you say that "a physical examination was done on Nathaniel, and Sammy's DNA was found underneath his fingernails." But later, at 35:17…you say that, "Sammy's DNA was never found on Nathaniel himself"…
Am I tripping? What's going on? Seems like a major detail.
