Shasta has really been going through it and you have to give her some grace. Most recently her house burned down. She was able to save her 5 kids and dog. But she has lost everything else.

  • @haleaga

It’s always interesting when you hear someone has brain issues following a series of crimes like this, just wonder what it could effect

  • @emilyunderhill8158

I live in Spokane and I remember this. It’s horrible what happened to this family

  • @kevinorcutt8697

In prison, weaker inmates will make themselves queens to get the protection of more powerful inmates. An example of this would be the spree killer Richard Speck, who actually got on hormones when he was in prison and grew female like breasts to make himself more attractive and desirable to other inmates.

  • @timothygonzalez4837

Maybe the tumors caused his actions

  • @ashleydejardin5138

    What a smart little girl

  • @fourfurrypotatoes

This is just brutal. Evil is real everyone! The cases involving children are the hardest to watch or listen to.

  • @Danisuzette

In case anyone is wondering yes, yes she absolutely said to take it with a grain of assault 😉

  • @BiPolarBear128

Not excusing what he did because he was clearly a monster , but him having been abused did damage to his brain and further damage by the brain tumor could explain what he did

  • @alyssabell3002

Shasta my thoughts are with you!! You are one brave brave girl!!!!

  • @alyssabell3002

How could they show that video!!! Just how????

  • @lorifintel9784

This one was hard, didn't make it through it without crying. I hope the little girl gets all the help she needs to heal.😢

  • @ajf369

You are definitely amazing at what you do. The best by far. This case is crazy. What a dangerous psychopath, i just cant grasp how he was allowed out in the first place. Like whay judge decided it was a good idea to put this vermin back into society? This is why i have two male rottweilers (brothers) as a single mom. Its the best decision i made. I feel safe and secure knowing my boys got the family protected, they are amazing. Whats interesting is when you said that something flipped in his mind and he turned more sinister, then you said he died from brain cancer. Being a psychology student i know how brain damage, brain illness can change your cognition and enhance aggression. This is a sick case but knowing he had a tumour in his brain makes it psychologically more interesting.

  • @JenMarxuach

I've been binge watching your videos for weeks, and I can say this one really made me tear up and get so angry! Is crazy to me that people or better said, monsters like that exist. I can't believe what he did, especially to the little boy 😭

  • @donnacooperman1934

Annie please do a deep dive on Shanda VanderArk

  • @karenallen5208

Great job reporting, Annie. I watch these documentaries and wonder what will it take for these "experts" to recognize the true dangerous nature of these sexual deviants? It's so disgusting how easily these monsters seem to work the system and find their way to more and more innocent victims. Just sick!

  • @vickinator

So yet another example of why people who do these types of things should NEVER be released! How many children have to suffer or people die before we realize that if you are capable of doing certain things you are missing an integral part of humanity and that can’t be cured! It is unbelievable that we risk lives so criminals can victimize over and over again! Infuriating!

  • @msxperience

I watch a ridiculous amount of true crime and this is….just… I have no words.

  • @katherineharvey5663

This man should never have been walking free. Pure evil

  • @emmycaty4670

There are so many predators like to abuse children. Sick sick sick 😢

  • @shawnnachaney8417

I'm gunna have to skip this one Annie. Shasta is my friend and it's hard for me to listen to this one, it's weird and cool hearing you talk about my hometown tho 🙂

  • @Jellybellycat

As a nurse who has worked extensively in the surgical field, our hospitals provide taxpayer-funded care to all prisoners regardless of their crime. They receive excellent care for back pain, neck pain, and other elective conditions. They receive better care than people on Medicare and Medicaid.

  • @peterashby-saracen3681

Truly horrible. I have seen several documentaries abou this case, none of which went into anything like the detail you do regarding the background of the perpetrator and some of which don't even to bother acknowledging his previous victims, so this is very informative as well as respecting their memories as well. Hopefully, Shasta will thrive, if not heal completely – how can a person ever truly heal after what she went through? Regarding Joseph Duncan – so many missed opportunities to stop a phenomenally dangerous person.

  • @alissawestbrook1706

Did any psychoanalysts have input on a diagnosis for him? It sounds like he’s one of those “all of the above” choices on a multiple choice question but I wonder if he was schizophrenic or if he actually had DID. Whenever I listen to these, in my mind I try to imagine at one point intervention would have changed a person’s outcome for the better, but with him I really don’t know if he could have been helped.

  • @amberdavis8734

I’ve got chills how this girl helped herself survive. Absolutely amazing

  • @teslagirl1

The brain surgery may have been more of a learning matter than a humanitarian one. After all, there has been a great deal of interest in the way the brains of such people function…and maybe they wondered what impact the tumor may have had on his behavior. I imagine, given his history, that he still would have done some very, very bad things… but maybe the tumor added to his impulsivity and also to his suggestibility. Who knows? The brain is still in part an unexplored country… there's a lot we don't yet know.

  • @crystalwilson3466

I lived and raised my children in Hemet, CA when Anthony Martinez was kidnapped. Which is close to where he was taken. I was already a helicopter parent, but I became extra vigilant. It also affected my children. I can't tell you how this hurt so many people in our communities. Then to find out he hurt so many more families. Cancer was too kind of death for him.

  • @penroc3

Sexual contact as an adolescent isn’t a game. Most of us do it but it’s very dangerous for all involved. Especially these days.

  • @jonathantaylor2621

Boy, that was a rough one…

  • @mariannemiladelhamy

Please enough with that false sense of safety ! lock your doors, don't use glass front doors that can be easily broken, don't leave your back door open. We are not living in the utopia. The world is full of crazy evil people.

  • @lexynape5573

Those poor poor kids. That one heroic kid, Anthony, who saved his little brother. Poor Slade. I can't believe they played that video in court. So sad this whole case and the fact the other cases weren't prosecuted I feel so bad for the other families too.😭💔💔💔
