  • @BehaviorPlanPam

Sadly, all colleges take this route. A report stated that 1 in 4 college freshmen are sexually assaulted in college. Sickens me.

  • @abigailrade44

There was hazing in the FFA chapter I was apart of in high school it sucked

  • @mostlyvoid.partiallystars

It does not surprise me that this is the culture, nor that the hospitals allegedly did not have the capability to handle responsible SA reporting. I too live in the south – it’s quickly becoming a third world country for those who are not obscenely wealthy.

  • @JL-xg6ll

Would be great to normalize wearing sunglasses inside. So often the lights in stores and offices bother my eyes. 😎

  • @karend169

Coach Monica only wants fame. Why is it the plaintiff's fault? Coach Monica only cares about fame. I hope she is taken down.

  • @masmichelle

Here in TX hazing is still VERY COMMON and has been coming to light in the news here and there in the last year

  • @carlafernandez.5175

About Emily's thoughts at the end, I have been thinking on how many things are hidden from us under the disguise of entertainment. I wonder what it takes to see the reality of certain things without personal interests literally painting a WHOLE different picture just for gain.

  • @ginamascetti8810

This is a great show. I knew something was amiss with Monica A. when she openly admitted that she financially supported LaDarious by paying for his dorm room and other things. It was clear that Monica crossed the line. That battle Monica had with LaDarious really struck a cord in that I realized that Monica had way too much power in her position. And as much as I can't stand LaDarious, he knew he could use her actions against her. She did too and that is why she tried to portray him as a "troubled youth".

  • @normandrongowski508

It makes me feel like if I watch this show I am as much at fault as the university's you are letting all of this go on under their watch. If I watch the show I feel like I am responsible for this young girl getting raped and objectified . Basically telling her it doesn't matter what happens to you long as the university as a whole is protected which in my opinion is BS. If our children are not safe at the school's why are we paying to send them there and allowing these universities to make all of this money off of us. Also our children join their and make them more money through games merchandise and publicity. When they don't care about our children's mental and physical well-being obviously. It's all about the money and status doesn't seem like it matters who they hurt in the process. I can't in good face watch these shows. Same with the Christie's the housewives all of the so-called reality shows. They're not reality the reality is they're all just thief's lying cheating doing whatever it takes to make money.

  • @Krissy_K888

25:00 the level of acceptance and normalization is shocking. Then they put the responsibility for the entire team's future on her. Meanwhile, the only expectation on the perpetrator is to force out an ingenuine sorry. I hope Madi Lane wipes the floor with the lot of them and cheer indeed gets canceled at Navarro.

  • @jaidenbrower6178

As a competitive cheerleader for 12 years now, this hurts my heart. Governing bodies and coaches/programs don't protect their athletes it makes the whole sport look bad and it takes away the joy that this sport can give. I am praying for all who have had to go through something like this!

  • @sunshinemagicalrainbowunic4004

Yeah don’t talk about over use, blah blah blah… seriously, at least with youths. I mean, sure, while the majority of coaches in any pay to play youth sport are almost always better at bullshitting than coaching, that doesn’t mean that children can’t learn something. But anyway, just so you know, despite what the first 3 pages on the internet tell us American that we should not let our kids specialize in only one sport, that’s just complete nonsense. Rest timo work ratio’s are mandatory however. there’s really not any legitimate scientific experiments, no scientific research (despite what big name college researchers and long winded youth sport organizations claim,) not one can be duplicated and not one proves that any group of specialized sport players are prone to or that their sport choice causes more injuries than not. That’s just corrupt corporations digging in to make stupid Americans spread their wealth to as many youth sports as they can get their lazy kids into –

As it relates to reality TV, I can understand how one may feel let down. It seems that reality TV has more far more secrets than one would would like shared. While I have not ever really enjoyed it, I can see how it has started to disappoint.

  • @1stlynn.c

The main thing to remember in this case (or others in the South) when trying to understand “how did this happen” is that it’s in TEXAS, which is in the SOUTH. In the South it is “impolite” to discuss this topic, much less expose it. I grew up in the South. It happened to me multiple times. Even if the women hate that their person did this to someone else, they will ride or die for their person. It’s a cultural thing to protect the male person/predator at all cost, usually for financial and image reasons.

  • @storyjumper

Please continue to cover this. It should be covered.

  • @ac_in_tuc4473

Personally, I cannot wait for school, all school, to be done online. Put those colleges that will not protect their students out of business and problem solved. Until then, as a society, we need to do a much better job with the intent of the law vs the letter of it. Thanks for reporting this. You are doing a great job. Keep up the good works.

  • @gshimon

would totally love seing more of this professional cheer lawsuits

  • @gretchenwilliams6349

I would love to hear how this resolves. It is hard to believe this happens in the 2020s. It sounds more like the 1950s

  • @madigodwin5416

i was a competitive cheerleader for like 8 years and going year round is rough on your body. i was 12 with issues of a 30 year old

  • @MegCazalet

It’s not “Corsica” it’s “Corsicana”. It’s not far outside Dallas, but definitely a world of its own, not a suburb of the city. I’m so glad Madi got to go to UT where her mother watches over her! UT is a much better school and cheer program, IMO.

  • @dragonfly8971

    Hazing never left!!!!

  • @JelkaGartner

Reminds me of Stanford. Do we know what's happening with law suite on that?

  • @MidnightBitesCarly

I’m interested in hearing the other cheerleading lawsuits tbh

  • @MELANIEPADRON

Did cheer for 10 years (currently 22). It's a very demanding sport, have terrible joints now lol. But as far as the cheer world there are a number of preditors in cheer. Had 3 coaches in my cheer career be arrested for such behavior.

  • @anenigmaticmind3818

Please continue to follow this case. You did a great job covering it.

  • @samanthameep

722 THOUSAND people are supporting you girl.. keep up the amazing work. Love from Pennsylvania!!

  • @theashleighdiaries

You ask what needs to be changed to protect these athletes – specifically within cheer, there needs to be one clear governing body that isn't run by a for profit monopoly company that is motivated to protect its own image and that actually consistently upholds the consequences of policy violations at every level from novice to elite and college levels. Right now we have colleges that are motivated to protect their own image, knowing that Varsity brands runs a monopoly that isn't consistent and far too many hands in the pot as governing bodies that are all controlled by Varsity. This is best highlighted when you realise that USASF doesn't have Monica on their banned list but USA Cheer do – and both are controlled by the same core company that runs the monopoly. There is no winners when cheer isn't properly regulated – as you said, we saw it with gymnastics. What is even more terrifying is that cheer has been recognised by the international olympic committee, so it will become a more active and large sport, and that none of these safeguards are in place in the US, let alone any of the other companies that copy the US's structure for their own industries. And without one proper governing body to turn to and hold everyone accountable and hold accountable themselves given that Varsity may be running the show but under a million faces and brands and bodies, it means that there won't be a reckoning in the same way we saw with gymnastics where there was one singular entity to be able to overhaul and hold accountable.

  • @DrPatriceBerry

That happened for me with Love is Blind…finding out the allegations about the impact on contestants’ mental health.

  • @HGCUPCAKES

I hope people start to stop watching Netflix!
It’s toxic and a dangerous outlet!

  • @SeamstressK

This level of hush reminds me a lot of the Larry Nassar/Michigan State University case. Absolutely disgusting. (Or rather, the Larry Nassar case and MSU… to my knowledge MSU hasn’t had civil consequences — let alone almost 25 years of aiding/abetting the little worm)

  • @crybbyrosa420

I think shes guilty. Ladarious another former cheerleader came out on live and put monica on blast about SA happening with the coaches and her not doing anything about it.

  • @kellicat6352

Hazing is so immature and just not acceptable. Leaving the door unlocked hell NO. 1st thing I thought was Ted Bundy. Safety first always. Nothing wrong with it be strict to be the best, but this sounds so wrong. How sad to hear this happened to this young woman. I hope she stays strong and keeps on track. God bless her. Sounds like some thugs need to be dumped from the team. Heartbreaking all around. I hope she gets justice.

  • @scarletsletter4466

I practice corporate law (defense) which sometimes unfortunately involves claims that encompass criminal allegations like these alleged. What astounds me is this plaintiff alleging that NOBODY was capable or even willing to uphold Title IX, and that the region lacked SA healthcare. Setting aside that we consider a motion to dismiss by assuming factual allegations are true, sometimes plaintiffs can overstate claims in a way that undermines believability. I’d bet the defense can show that someone at the school helped her with the report and the region has SA healthcare that she didn’t access. This is why you don’t want to pad your civil complaint with unnecessary claims that are superfluous to the actual legal matter.

Sadly, it’s an unfortunate reality that if you publicly bring lawsuits whether for discrimination claims in a job, college, etc, or other sorts of civil litigation, it will impact your future career. We even see this with contract litigation. A company might believe the employee was wronged by his prior employer, but they still don’t want to hire someone who handles conflict by suing. So, I can see a sad situation where a coach might want to warn a student against ramifications of public litigation, & that’s taken as dissuading her from reporting 😢

  • @jenny2108

This is another reason why Cheer & Dance programs need to be under athletic departments. Idk what the case is at Navarro, but unfortunately at many schools cheer/dance team programs are not supported by athletic departments which leads to a lack of oversight and less regulations that allow things like this to fall through the cracks. More examples are lack of funding, equipment, safety certifications for coaches, and so much more. All of this because society sees cheer and dance as less of a sport. No matter your view no athlete should be put in these situations and treating these teams equally with other sports teams would prevent so much of this from happening.

  • @Shellys465

Replay crew. Navarro in Corsicana has community college campuses in many towns in my area. A friend of mine had a 16 year old daughter that at 17 left home and moved in with her cheer coach. When she had a baby he left her for another of his cheer girls. I don’t know that he was a Navarro coach but he was was a competition coach

  • @jamietinnelly9069

Yes! Please keep up with these cheer lawsuits. My 12 year old daughter is in competition cheer. Her coach recently mentioned issues with Varsity. Luv ya Emily! Thank you for all your insight!

  • @darcyg09

I would like to hear more about the Varsity lawsuit. As a former competitive cheerleader.
I can’t say I’m surprised about the culture and the lawsuits.

  • @victoria139

This is absolutely despicable, I mean they are systematically upholding rape and SA culture and I think if Madi does end up winning we're going to see way more people coming forward

  • @rosannaappelt1635

Just for future reference.. if you cover this case again.. it’s CorsiCANa.. not Corsica. Great coverage tho! Thanks for the deep dive into the legalese.

  • @RogueMomma25

The police need to be sued as well

  • @sarahv311

You really didn’t think there was a dark side to cheerleading? Really? Good for Madi! She needs to do what’s best for her, but I hope she doesn’t settle.

  • @byrds58sylvie

Fukin bumfrek Texas… (I’m Texan) Thats a hotbed of inappropriate. They still operate by the wild West code..
Everybody is packing, and Sports by gahwd is King.
Sickening.. Navarro is a long way from no where. Parents would b fools to send any children to those “buckle on the Bible Belt” schools in that part of Texas.

  • @mary-katebravener6985

11:02 I was a competitive cheerleader for over 9 years from elementary to highschool I did allstar and I moved to college cheer for a year before the pandemic it has given me so many injuries that sometimes I wish I never did it so I didn’t have the wrist pain but I wouldn’t trade my experience for anything I love everything about it and I miss it…i feel like it’s the same for most cheerleaders I’ve cheered with we do it for us nobody else

  • @99_Lead_Balloons

I’ve heard so many good things about your channel and content! Soooo happy to have watched this as my first video! 😊

  • @carachandler9714

fight it out (push through your routine) fuck em up (you did really good you put them in their place)

  • @carachandler9714

coming from a cheerleader, competition, and college i’ve seen teams all around have letters! Before you go out you “spirit” or yell your letters (or they’re in your music). There’s other teams Senior Elite, they chant SE4L.
