After listening to what Stephanie Harlowe's explanation is how Susan Reinert & her children were murdered I agree. I do believe Bradfield left while Smith staged Susan"s body & I believe he dissolved the childrens bodies in acid as he did his daughter & son in law. I absolutely appreciate youn Stephanie for how you pr3sented this case. I hav39n3 eye & I ike audio books to not strain my eyesight. And you do a wonderful & through job. Thanss

  • @missgollymolly2012

I think William. Bradfield & Jay Smith tortured & mutdered Susan Reinert. Those 2 murdered her children & I believe Jay Smith dissolved the children's bodies in acid so they could never be found to use as evidence against Smith nor Bradfield.

  • @jaimiecarpediemer

Amazing deep dive. Thank you 🙏🏻

I knew someone much like Bill. It was actually quite healing to listen to Bill being abandoned by those he’d manipulated and gaslit for so long.

  • @germanamadeleine

Such a great series Stephanie. Very impressive. And such a crazy story.

  • @foolishnicksstuff1802

It is really, really stupid of Bill to frame J.C in the mind of his followers and then tell them to never say anything to the police, especially if he was really involved. Then it would be stupid of him to frame his accomplice anyways. On the other hand if the crime was only solved on the basis of having a motiv, then why the whole investigation anyway?!
It's a very circumstantial case when it comes to Bill at best, even if it's very logical. In contrery J.S case is more based on actual fiscal evidence, but totally lacks motive in his behave.Very wierd!!!

  • @cgabe7707

I just finished binge watching all your videos on the Mainline Murders. I remember at the end of the 3rd part, you commented about being so long on this. I can not begin to stress how much I enjoyed your indepth coverage. You are so informative and include the important details I would be left wondering about and frustrated, not knowing. Thank you for the hard work

  • @LoraGlimmers

Another great series, Stephanie! Thank you for ALL that you do. You are amazing! 🔪 📃 ❤

  • @jackiechild9740

This was a really great series! ❤ The tangled web of craziness!! 🤯 these men were certainly involved up to their eyeballs in this murder! Thanks, Stephanie, for delving into this one!

  • @laurad8035

For me, the saddest piece is that the children’s father went to his grave not knowing what happened to his children.

  • @ravenstormchild6491

It’s disturbing how these psychopaths can find each other…

  • @ArtTasticCreations

I kind of wonder if Bill manipulated J Smith into carrying out robberies and he also manipulated him into killing Susan. It seems like Bill was the mastermind behind most of the bad things that happened in that town.

  • @amyatkinson7085

    They are definitely both guilty!

  • @danielleshkolnik

    Love you with curly hair!

  • @shannonminnig4674

I listened to all 4 parts today 😂 Stephanie is the absolute best.

  • @robertapreston4200

I feel I wasted a lot of time… our laws suck. People suck. Both of them were acting superior, ronchy, and totally selfish. My God…. if your man is having flings everywhere with anyone, why stay with him????? Why???? You aren't going to win…. that's not how these guys work. 😢

  • @victoriajarboe4477

That’s one of the craziest stories I’ve ever heard so thanks for telling it. I do have to say that I have little sympathy for Susan. The story should focus on the children. If what I’m getting is correct , this woman was very focused on herself. The insurance policies are ridiculous. I know you don’t like victim shaming, but from everything you said she was a terrible mother. Being present doesn’t make you a good parent. You have to put your kids in front of yourself, and she didn’t do that. I feel for her ex-husband, and his loss. This was VERY PREVENTABLE. Don’t put the sleazy English teacher in front of your kids.

  • @jamescleary-px7qp

Thank you for telling Susan story. The injustice of killing her and her children and trying to sully her name as well

  • @roberthatton1226

Just a note. I bought a pair. They screwed up the lenes. And have a bot that will not allow you to talk to a human. I have gone through this for a month 😢

  • @origamipein18

Boy, oh, boy, what a case. ):

I feel so bad for Susan for getting caught in Bill's web. ):

  • @Talula-Darling

Whenever Stephanie says “Joanna Atkins,” my brain automatically thinks, “Susan Atkins,” and my stomach drops. Blech!

  • @bellj753

Gosh, truly a dark Jerry Spring (rip) crime mystery melange.

  • @angelang222

    Bradfield framed Jay!

  • @skyjust828

Bill went to jail in Nov 1980 or was it 81?

  • @skyjust828

😂😂🤣 I can't keep up with all the people over 5 hours I'm still backing up & trying to keep up with the names😢

  • @skyjust828

It's amazing how far we've come in forensics in 44 yrs.😮 The hair samples were checked under microscope now DNA would have solved it to J. Smith killed her .

  • @skyjust828

    Nevermind 😮😢

  • @skyjust828

Cellphone??? I haven't seen a payphone in 20 years? How is J. Smith cellphone using AND pay phoning?

  • @rickwurster4526

I just now remembered who you remind me of, namely Andy Mcdowel, very pretty.

  • @rickwurster4526

this one has been three episodes too long and you are putting too many personal comments into your research instead of keeping it impersonal like a true crime reporter does.

  • @michellegiordano8277

Wow😮! Great insight into the minds of darkness🤯Bravo!

  • @chrystalmoore2501

I think the whole crew knew more then they let on! JC and Bill definitely kill Susan and JC killed the kids……imo.

  • @SassyCactus86

These men really thought they were all that. Gross. Small wieners make big egos.

  • @heavenlymessages3863

And people wonder what happened to our school system, this is a classic example, the devil took it over.

  • @lindaanderson6780

What an absurd, baffling, strange, interesting & crazy saga!
    Very entertaining!
So well-researched & brilliantly told thank you Miss Stephanie!
Wow! That truly was a mind-blowing tale that could easily pass for a fiction crime-novel or a B-grade movie with a cast of crazies, cons, crooks & criminals!
I agree that Bill & Jay are/were both manipulating, unhinged & narcissistic psychopaths!!
And it is most likely that both of these evil, demented men had a hand in the murders!
How despicable for so many people to know that Susan was almost certainly going to be murdered, yet not one of them had the empathy or decency to say anything or try to stop it!
And because she was a mother of two young children, that truly is just reprehensible & so horrifically cold & callous!
But what really makes no sense at all to me in Bill's vile & evil plan is Bill telling every man & his dog that Jay was going to murder Susan!
If Jay was set to be Bill's accomplice in committing the murders, why would Bill tell everybody that Jay is involved at all?
Wouldn't that just put himself on the police's radar because of their obvious connection & further risk his own butt if Bill turned on him or fessed up to cops?
And if Jay was working with Bill, would Jay have agreed to a plan to just let Bill throw his name out there as the potential murderer left, right & centre before the murders even occurred?
Bill was so greedy & sly that I wouldn't put anything past him!
I'm so glad he was convicted of murder, that he died in prison & really, that he is just dead full-stop!
Right now he is hopefully rotting & burning away in hell for eternity!
So was Bill just following through with the lies that he told everybody from the start – saying that if Susan is murdered it's definitely Jay because he is so hell-bent on killing her that Bill has had to step in & become the hero who is actually trying to stop him doing it?
If so, that sounds a lot like he really was planning to frame Jay from the get-go!
Or was Jay possibly unaware that Bill was throwing his name out there for months prior to the murder?
If so, maybe Bill scammed him too!
Maybe Bill, while setting up Jay & doing his best to frame him behind his back, also convinced Jay to help with the murders, giving himself even better odds of pinning the whole thing on Jay by raking him in & then planting extra fake evidence which leads right back to Jay?
It really is a mystery because both of these trash-people were selfish, greedy liars who proved that they couldn't be trusted in any situation, or by anybody at all ever!!
    What a head-scratcher of a case!!.👏🤗

  • @ibuprofenPill

Bradfield and Smith totally did this.

  • @rebeccajordan4491

I’ve been glued to this story for the past week, even re-listening to several episodes after foolishly choosing to let them be “background” noise. It’s so compelling; I have to keep reminding myself that Susan, Karen and Michael were real people who lost their lives in real tragedies, because it’s so easy to get lost in the absurdity of the story.

  • @charlihi9163

I hope they can find the children’ bodies someday. It would give a lot of relief for their family to have that kind of closure.

  • @Namuh23

Stephanie amazing job…. Thank you …. Again I hope YouTube treats you well. I’ll continue to tell everyone about you…. All my introverted crime junkies I meet along the way.I love ittt can’t get enough.

  • @JTAH86

That was a ride! I don't mean this as an insult to Sue or Susan, I find it crazy that people hold onto these relationships with these abusive men. I understand they are being manipulated, it is just wild. I also just watched a video about Jack Idema and the things he put Penni through were also terrible (she got to live with him though and she suffered for it (Not that Susan didn't suffer)). Actually thinking about it, you might want to look into him Stephanie, his name is actually Jonathan Keith Idema. He pretended to be working for the US government in the middle and did horrible things there, he loved making tall tales about himself (sounds like Bill)

  • @lovelyleslie113

You are the only one I could listen to for hours straight and not get annoyed lol. You did an amazing job covering this case!

  • @daniellestates246

I LOVE your hair, especailly when its curly. I also have curly hair so I know how much work it takes. looks great mamma your the absolute best !!!

  • @andrewrexroth577

My parents were Upper Merion students at this time and had Susan Reinert as a teacher the year before she was killed. I've heard their accounts of the story a few times and I know they believe that Smith is the one who actually did the killing.
