    Dear Stephanie
Your research is piercingly, boldly and truthfully told. I am an Alaskan Indian. We call ourselves Dene. Our ancestry includes our Canadian brothers and sisters. I wish people understood how clearly and profoundly History impacts our current lives. For anyone anywhere on our beautiful Mother Earth. If only the non Indigenous people of this continent could grasp the effects of their crimes against our people have impacted us by their grand ignorance and racism. How could they understand never having been Genocided themselves?
I am glad you despise the word and result of "assimilation" . A most despicable word to me. I will have the grief and anger of what was and STILL IS happened and happening to my tribe and every tribe in Canada and america. We are still suffering the breakdown in uncountable ways. It's a grief that will never ever leave my heart. It's from my past and I see it's affects still being experienced. And it will continue. So what you are presenting is very important. The hard truth of our people is hardly ever presented in its awful scope.
I have worked and lived with many of our people from many tribes. What makes our destructions so painful and egregious is the observation that our tribal people's everywhere, collectively, were one of the most peaceful people on planet earth. A lovable, kind, humorous and real and caring truth telling people's.
And children were our greatest gift from the Creator. What the white people did not grasp was their degrading ideas and opinions of us was what they caused in our breakdown. The forced assimilation. The great pain of our people.

A big thank you for your understanding and presenting our truth.

Love & enjoy your channel. you do the research, as well as "put in the work" for your videos. Thank You for doing this one especially, as a native whose relatives "survived/lived" thru-out the "60's scoop" / residential "schools" you did a really great video!!
    Hope you continue your vids/clips,
your hard work, for many more years!

Oh my!! This hit my heart 💔!!
This is also what happened here in Australia with Aboriginal people and their tribes, plus more and I have read peoples stories from when it was all happening and my heart just breaks!!!
Our government is still TRYING to control some aboriginal communities in Northern Territory.. I did extensive research when I was studying into it

Monarchy loved that shit. Colonization. Love your work Stephanie.
I a white woman of European decent worked on a Montanan Reservation.
It is awful what the "settlers and colonists" have done to a culture.

My grandfather told me he went to an orphanage as a boy around 8yo. He said that all 3 of his young siblings were taken and alluded that this was related to the great depression and poverty. He said it was a bad place and the people were abusive. He ran away and never saw his siblings. He passed when I was 7. It wasn't until I was an adult that I did the math and realized he was an adult in his late 30s to early 40s during the depression. His mother was Seminole and his father was a Welch immigrant. I've seen one picture of her, and my grandfather knew very little about them to tell me. I always thought it strange that a mother would willingly leave her children at an orphanage. He would've been 8 around 1891-1893. 30 years after his death, I realized it's more likely he was sent to a residential school and later told that his mother gave him away. I can't know for certain, obviously, but it filled me with a profound sense of compassion for what he must have endured. He would never speak of it to anyone. Thank you for covering this.

@10:12 I'm not sure that Priest's writing was being rude or hateful.. it sounds like he was simply stating facts that he had observed.

  • @TheShankari33

Indians… Yes. I wish you had said Roman Catholic more often. Pedaphiles no doubt all thru those schools. Disgusting.

THE GREAT CANADIAN RESIDENTIAL SCHOOL HOAX

It's been 3 years and NO BODIES. 3 years and NO SECRET GRAVES. 3 years and NO PROOF OF ANY KIND! Ha ha ha on Canada. SUCKERED YOU into paying MILLIONS upon MILLIONS of dollars! LOL

I am willing to be proven wrong but not with threats, Myths or insults but with FACTs. We need less emotional dogmatic responses.

My Ukrainian grandma and her family immigrated to the US in 1950 after being in a DP camp in Germany. Though I will never know what is like to have my culture nearly removed from the world completely I can empathize heavily. Due to the red scare and just how America treats immigrants in general my grandma was bullied for not being able to speak English, for having an accent, for celebrating differently, etc. The family would have dog poop thrown at the house or lit on fire, people would egg them and many other things due to their origins. From this she learned that it was "wrong" to live her culture and speak her language which has resulted in me and my family not being taught those things. I am thankful that though it'll be more difficult it is still possible for me to learn about my culture and learn the language unlike a lot of Natives and African Americans. I hope we as a planet can help heal the damages caused by the past.

This story has been proven now to be a lie. Our idiot fed gov used this as a means of pushing a BS narrative to distract everyone from their horrendous policies which have destroyed this country. Headline from the NY Post:
"No human remains found 2 years after claims of ‘mass graves’ in Canada"

    Quote from article:

After two years of horror stories about the alleged mass graves of Indigenous children at residential schools across Canada, a series of recent excavations at suspected sites has turned up no human remains.

Some academics and politicians say it’s further evidence that the stories are unproven.

“I don’t like to use the word hoax because it’s too strong but there are also too many falsehoods circulating about this issue with no evidence,” Jacques Rouillard, a professor emeritus in the Department of History at the UniversitĂ© de MontrĂ©al, told The Post Wednesday.

Gosh i can't stand adult female talking with annoying childish girly voice… You should find something where you don't have to speak so much. Very annoying…

  • @heathernikki5734

Apparently it was all a lie 😼 they didn’t find anything

  • @jariahymn3028

It’s always heartbreaking to hear how horrific some groups have been treated(and some of which still are)

Idk if this would be considered “christening”(making(by force) ppl Christian”, but it does seem like it and that has been done in several parts of the world including parts of Europe

  • @kathymccarthy5264

Christopher columbus is not an idiot. If it werent for europeans coming here, this country would be like one of the SA countries people leave for the US or Canada so they can have a better life. And NY became what it became thanks to the Europeans, not native Americans.
