Welcome back to Tend to Life, where we delve deep into the most twisted and sinister crime cases. Today’s case is a chilling one, unfolding right in the heart of the Excelsior Springs community. A woman, held captive for weeks by 39-year-old Timothy Haslet Jr, bravely escaped his clutches and sought help from a neighbor. The police, swift in their response, arrested Haslet as he dropped off his child at school, unaware that his house of horrors was being uncovered.

As investigators combed through Haslet’s residence, disturbing evidence emerged – chains, ropes, restraints, whips, and handguns hinted at the unspeakable horrors that occurred within those walls. Could this be the work of a serial killer, preying on vulnerable women in the Prospect area of Kansas City? The lack of mainstream media coverage raises questions about the systemic bias in reporting crimes involving adults workers, especially those of color.

With each new detail uncovered, the darkness of this case deepens. Was Haslet’s hatred towards women, evident in his social media posts, the driving force behind his despicable actions? Was his son, living in the same house, aware of the atrocities being committed? The chilling reality of this case leaves us with more questions than answers. As we await further developments, let’s keep the victims in our thoughts and prayers.

Stay tuned for more updates on this harrowing case. And remember, in the world of true crime, the truth is often more twisted than fiction. Stay safe, and until next time, this is Annie Elise signing off.

I must say about 90% of the cases that you cover on your channel are white women. Sorry I've never understood the whole argument of and use media not covering certain things because of certain situations. If something happens then the news will cover it. Mike, people can't help but they make up a majority of the population so stuff will happen. But I can guarantee you if you was to start looking into shooting crimes and robbery. And let's just say Chicago and you start exclusively covering that. You would have a lot more diversity and no one would be able to complain….

  • @sallykohorst8803

Another older video i have missed.

  • @carlav4725

Saying black people or people of colour don’t get the right coverage as someone that’s white is absolutely bizarre and not a fact or even close. Probably sticking to crime facts is better for you

  • @superlemmymatthewsvyondand6212

Just gonna let you know, I was gonna get a house nearby where Timothy lived some of my friends even live nearby I was worried for them

  • @StephanieJac3329

@Annie- id love if you could cover the Ashley Pond & Miranda Gadass story here in Oregon City Oregon that happened years back, around 2002 I think? 3 generations of men all have history of murder. Itd be interesting to hear the teith of this family

  • @StephanieJac3329

I've never heard of this story so thank you for sharing and bringing awareness Annie!

  • @ruthjohnson2710

Thank you so much. You are very excellently thorough 👏🏽👏🏽

  • @charlycallahan1473

The son is with his grandma I believe. He’s safe and loved. She’s a great person.

I live in this area and haven’t heard anything since it happened. No updates, no more coverage, etc.

  • @charlycallahan1473

He absolutely knew that area is where you can find adult workers. Prospect and Paseo are well known by everyone in the Kansas City metro areas to be a high crime and bad area

  • @ssnow3240

I truly hope he is prosecuted to a full extent and it breaks my heart that these women who are considered "unimportant" because of their profession and the color of their skin that this case has fallen into the wayside because I think it's very important for it to be headline news

  • @AliciaLewis-bq3sf

I still live in Excelsior Springs. This case was huge. I learned more here than I have around town. No one is talking. His child went to the same school all of my children attended. I used to live at 726 Old Orchard, right down the street…
Im pretty sure this guy is serial, too many things…

  • @jessicabest589

Well since not supporting an organization that stole money and made themselves rich and burned, looted, and destroyed many cities and ruined many lives and caused lost lives, makes you a racist…. I have to say I 100% disagree with you, and they dont cover sex workers, unless it becomes a huge number. They cover strange or over the top violence. Thats just what they do. I also feel so bad for all the victims, now there are sick poeple everywhere and in every culture… and honestly. The lack of morality in the Country has just made it worse and its gonna get a whole hell of a lot worse based off poeples behaviours and attitudes in this Country.

  • @MaggiesChineseFusion

As a brown person, I don’t believe that the color of a victim has anything to do with the media coverage, but the social status. If a victim or victim ‘s family is rich and powerful, he/ she will receive nationwide attention even he/ she has purple skin.

  • @Jess-vk6qj

I feel like investigators are hard wired to believe that most all murders are spouse or someone you know well and if it falls out of those parameters its good luck figuring it out unless they're lucky with DNA. Sadly i think theres a lot of people who have been falsly convicted because of it as well as cases that don't get the attention they deserve because they werent in typical monogamous relationships.

  • @bahramjabaroghli7728

Will u give it a rest with only pretty blonds victims get mentioned on The news. Its when someone is pretty or half way decent looking .that's why wht crackhead victims or fat wht girls DONT get mentioned. I seen plenty of dateline and 48 hrs Episodes on pretty blk victims. So stop with Racial BS

  • @alyssashumski1921

Guilty… and definitely has many more.. 😢

  • @alyssashumski1921

Wanted to add, he has family around who DO NOT LIKE HIM OR ASSOCIATE WITH HIM. I know his nephew unfortunately.

  • @babyphatpenut

Just recently they did put out an update an someone they were looking to talk to in connection with this man was found dead in a blue barrel this is facts you google an find it

  • @judytinker3392

Annie, I watch you so much that I think I’ve almost watched every one of your cases and I keep searching for new ones you do a great job of putting out your crime scenes cases and I appreciate it but I’m running out girl. Thank you for being you, the compassionate person that you are.

  • @stephaniebrown2901

It's creepy seeing you cover a story from the town I used to live. I went to high school in Excelsior Springs.

  • @laurapechonis9172

Congratulations on reaching the 1 million mark Annie!!!! You DEFINITELY deserve it for all the gard wirk you do, and for your personality and for your excelkent stiry telling tgat enthralls all of us from the very first second! Much respect from Boaton 😊

  • @Croseyes

Sooo something funny! I’m from excelsior springs and it’s not the quite tight nit towns like described. People have been shot in the face, stabbed, shoot outs, tons of overdose deaths. I wonder where you get it’s a quiet little town. Me and a bunch of others moved away because that town is horrible. I won’t even go drive there to visit old friends

  • @frankiedfourlegs2316

There are updates to this case. Hope you keep us informed.

  • @susie1370

I used to live in Kansas City! Seems the cops are slacking in the black community!
And the mother of his child has custody of the child now, that's the last i heard!

  • @ayimgatica4794

Is there an update video of this case?

  • @VicS15

My Fiance told me to look this guy up and I cane right to you! wow, this is crazy. This guy needs to cook!

  • @truckertalknow

Unresolved stories suck. Find better ones. Ones that have endings!

  • @ellaabbey1570

I heard an update on tiktok, idk how true it is. But apparently the witness was found in a blue barrel, in a body of water(think it was a river but im not sure dont want to give false info). They were having a hearing to up his bond because of it.
But id love for an update on this case, i dont trust tiktok as a news source for 100% facts.

  • @neenasingh5089

Getting your tubes tied is a much more serious, more risky and a much more invasive surgery than a vasectomy as well, it’s not the same.

  • @ashlimoon339

Have they said how many other victims he has??

  • @rickehall4535

So the around the clock coverage of carlee Russell was not a alert for someone of color? It no doubt was pushed because the media didn't want to be called racist and not have it in the forefront. Now that she was found to be a fake and cost money and manpower to look for her, she has received a slap on the wrist much like her mentor jussie smolet. Are we to sweep this under the rug because she's a person of color? One would think so.

  • @wrnr_mn

What's your take on the racial aspect? You didn't go into that at all. The KC Defender highlights that aspect as a possible motive. Did the victim mention anything about the race of the other alleged victims? This would expand the case substantially

  • @marshametcalfe8425

    Update as of yesterday

  • @beckylewis70

Ohhh he's got other victims, whether or not they're still alive is up in the air. The one that escaped, is exactly that, the one that escaped. When is law enforcement going to learn, serial unalivers 101, THEY START WITH THE MOST VULNERABLE animals, children, shmex workers, addicts, homeless…..geeze. Maybe they should have a bunch of true crime fans working in the staitions with officers and detectives. Thank you for all that you do to make these videos, I'm hooked on your channel ❤❤❤❤

  • @ExcelsiorSpringsDrummer_

Fun fact. That blue house that Everado is filming behind is mine. I've lived 3 houses down from Timothy for 5 yrs. Guy was clean cut when I moved here. He appeared to have let himself go pretty rapidly over the last year or so leading up to this. Terrible situation

  • @sumanmarks-johnson2488

Just watching this one, but there had to be more victims or the victim wouldn't have noted there were others. In that state of panic that was described, she didn't have time to throw some extra details in.

  • @Devvyness666

    100% multiple women

  • @matthewotremba9230

I may have looked for a Girlfriend in my 50s
But , passed on a few , all nuts
Am content with a decision to not try or care for one in my 60s
It really is that bad out there Honey
Love your videos , keep up the good , detailed , deep dive , work

  • @lanahaxer4935

I used to live in an abandoned house off prospect and 55th i had to stay thru the winter in abandoned houses after I escaped my abuser bc I couldn't get help in Kansas city. I know how terrible that area is from the standpoint of a white woman needing help, i can not imagine how hard it is for poc 😢

  • @1972dsrai

Just on the point you made about never opening his garage door beyond a certain height so no one could look inside, a have a friend who does exactly the same , but for him it's because he owns a classic car which he cherishes and doesn't want anyone passing seeing it and potentially think about stealing it. It could be a similar case here where he doesn't want prying eyes checking what he has stored in there as they might be high value items for all we know.
