As a former devout Catholic I just want to add that the Bible as we know it wasn’t compiled and “canonized” in the Council of Nicaea as many people think, that was later and in the Council of Trent after the Reformation specified what books belonged in the canon and that’s part of the reason why Catholic Bibles have “extra” books like Tobit and Maccabees while Protestant Bibles don’t, that was also part of the conflict and what David did reminded me of that.
I'm an atheist now but I've been collecting works that are considered "sacred texts" besides the Bible and across religions and have read most of them (such as the Qu'ran and the Book of Mormon) and I'm curious to read LRH's works, however I'm not giving a single cent to this organization.

I am an actress and writer who was taken in by the Scienos (that's what we called them in London when I left) It was a very glamorous life. I partied with all these people. Tom Cruise, Jason Lee, Juliette Lewis etc etc. I was about 19-21 during my international Celebrity Centre life, flying from the UK to LA and NYC. They really get their hooks into you and string you along. All of this and the previous episode was a bit triggering for me and I am just so grateful I managed to get out when I did. This reminds me a lot when I worked for jehovah witnesses. My friend Julia & I are Catholic and my Boss made us work on Christmas Day. JW’s do not celebrate that Holiday, so I thought, that’s an odd choice. We worked together at an insurance company. They would try converting us in a passive aggressive way.

I do understand how people who don't feel like they have support in their lives can fall prey to cults. For me the red flags would be waving so hard I'd trip over my own feet to get out of there, but I have the privilege of already having a strong support system in my life.
