The task force investigating Bill’s murder believed they had a solid theory pointing to Melanie as the perpetrator. Melanie meticulously planned and executed the murder, purchasing a gun just days before Bill’s disappearance. She also stole Brad’s prescription pad to obtain a sedative, chloral hydrate, which she used to drug Bill before shooting him in their home.
On the night of the murder, Melanie confided in her boyfriend Brad about her intention to take out her husband so they could be together. She carefully staged the crime scene, using pillows to muffle the sound of the gunshot. After killing Bill, she dismembered his body with an electric saw while her children were out of the house.
Melanie then placed the body parts in trash bags and concealed them in a matching three-piece suitcase set. She thoroughly cleaned the crime scene in an attempt to cover her tracks. This premeditated and calculated crime shows the extent of Melanie’s planning and deceit.

Where did Annie Elise get that she told Brad she was going to “take him out?” I’ve watched this story several times over the years and he never said that. Not on Dateline, for sure (watched that episode a few weeks ago) & I don’t think on the other programs (but that I can’t be positive bc I watched it so long ago). Dateline is very thorough…probably the most thorough of everything I’ve ever watched.

I did not need to see the evidence to know that she did murder her husband. She was the one who had an affair. Is there any prove of his alleged affair or his gambling? I think that it was her husband who wanted to buy the house and that made it nearly impossible for her to be with her lover Brad. So she had to get rid of him by killing him. She thougt she had given everyone a reason why he might have disappeared, hoping everyone would believe he ran into the wrong people by making gamblingdebts.

If you choose to be with another person, get a divorce, don’t kill the mother or father of your children. The children are the ones that are really the most affected by this. This woman was clearly insane for doing what she did, and a psycho. I remember watching this case on court TV and just looking at her eyes you can see how evil she was. I’m so happy that they found her guilty.
